Hi everyone,
I'm having a hard time  with my fiance deciding on the bridal party. I have so far selected and told (!) 6 friends to be bridesmaids. I would love to have 8!! BUT, my fiance only has 2 groomsmen. I feel like I've created a mess and don't know how to fix it...should I just stay with the 6 or is it o.k. to add 2 more women??? and is it :o ok to have more bridesmaids than there are groomsmen??
Thank you :)

I have a matron of honor & best man, 2 bridesmaids, 2 groomsmen, 2 junior bridesmaids, 1 junior groomsman, a flower girl, ring bearer, 2 hostesses and 2 ushers. I don't think I have too many. if you want to keep it even, pair up 2 girls with each guy and either have the other girls walk together, or give them a different position. :)

Thanks :)
I think I may pair the girls up and try to get some groosmen. I'll try to get 4 groomsmen so they can probably escort two girls each..or just have the men wait up front and enter with the bridesmaids...and then when they exit one groomsman may escort two bridesmaids. Just have to make sure my fiance agrees with this..he's really stressing over it since his best friends all live in another country and may not be able to make it. I guess we'll ask friends of the family that live here.
Thanks :)

What are your hostesses going to do? :)

I'm treating my hostess as female ushers. I know everyone has stood in a line waiting for people to ask the ushers questions and it holds everything up. So my hostess are going to hand out the program at the door, answer questions, and find out bride/groom if we do that. That frees up the male ushers to just keep escorting people. The hostess will aslo be available after the ceremony to answer questions about directions to the reception and stuff, which also expidites the guests exits from the church. On top of that one of them will be "guest book" attendant and the other will put up and take down the pew bows with the ushers. That's what I plan on having them do. :)

Hi Janette,
For my brother's wedding we started with a total of 6 Bridesmaids and 6 Groomsmen and 2 male ushers. Well, as it ***e closer to the time of the wedding all havoc broke out...
The wedding was in South Bend, IN and my brother is originally from Minnesota. The majority of his groomsmen were from MN, one was from MI and another from IL. Well, 2 groomsmen from MN pulled out at the last minute because the started new jobs and were told they could not have the time off.
My brother decided that the ushers could do double duty and also be groomsmen (My SIL's brother wasn't crazy about this because he was now a groomsman and didn't want to do that!)...
Then, another Groomsman is arrested for a DWI and put into a workhouse situation. They will not let him leave the State of Michigan even though he would be going less than 10 miles across the boarder to Indiana. Well, this was bad for my brother but worked out wonderfully for his friend as he finally ended his alcohol addiction and met his wife through a Pastoral Ministry program.
O.K... Down by one guy... My brother's response was we can handle this! Well, one day before the wedding, another groomsmen ended in the hospital due to food poisoning!
Long story made short... It worked out great having 2 groomsmen escort 2 bridesmaids each. As one of those bridesmaids, I felt the solution worked out great.
Now, my brother & SIL have been married 7 years and they have very fond memories of the whole situation. Everytime they watch their wedding video, they chuckle over how worried they were.
As things would have it, I'm now in a similar situation. I plan to have 3 bridesmaids. My fiance has moved around a lot the past 5 years and has only a few VERY close friends that he would even consider asking. The problem is that 2 guys he would like to ask are unemployed and on opposite ends of the continent. One friend is in Maine and the other is in California. He feels uncomfortable burdening them with the cost of a tux as well as airfare, hotel, etc... We are actually hoping that my roommates boyfriend would be willing to fly across the country to pick them up and we would find places for them to stay with friends.

is it possible that some of the girls wear a tux instead and that will even the numbers up on each side.
