I don't know who to have be my maid of honor. I had always figured it would be my best friend, but my mom said that it is supposed to be your sister if you have one and that it it rude to ask someone else. I can understand that and my best friend can be one of my bridesmaids. My real problem is that I have two sisters. Which of them should be my bridesmaid? They are both younger than me, but adults, and neither one of them is married.
Thanks!

Go with you're best friend. It is after all, you're wedding. Then both of you're sisters can be Brides Maids and you don't have to pick one over the other, thereby hurting any feelings.

I would ask my best friend and then both your sisters can be brides' maids. Period. PS. I'm a Mother of the Brides 4x over.!

Please don't listen to you mother. I'm in the exact same situation. I have two older sisters, but both of them can't be my maid of honor, so I made my best friend my M.O.F. My oldest sister still serves as my semi-M.O.F., but my best friend is my main helper. My two good friends are my bridesmaids. So neither of my sisters will be in the wedding - but they'll help with smaller items, like handing out programs to our guests, watching over the guest book.

YOU choose the MOH for YOUR wedding, if you mother tries to tell you other wise, just politely say that this is YOUR wedding and not hers. I have a friend who let her mom have so much say in the wedding that she couldn't even have a bachleorette party or anything else she wanted for her wedding.
For me, I have my cousin (like a best friend) as my MOH and partly because she is going to be helping me so much in my planning. I have three bridesmaids but then I have all these sis-in-laws (well soon to be) and my dad got remarried and I have step sisters. I wanted to involve all of them in the wedding. Well I have my 3 BMs and now 6 Usherettes I even know how I'm going to formally ask them be in the wedding. They are all wearing the same dress except the BMs are wearing blue and the Usherettes are wearing red.
