Hello everyone,

I am looking for some ideas for "different" songs to use for the father daughter dance. Almost everyone I know has used Daddys little girl. Anyone got any ideas for something different?

My Dad picked our song, so maybe your Dad will surprise you by having some ideas himself. I danced to I Hope you'll Dance, by LeeAnn Womack with my Dad...a little country-ish for me, but the words were perfect for us. My sister and my Dad danced to Have I Told you Lately that I Love You, by the Chieftans, but so many other artists have done that song. My best friend used, You are so Beautiful by Joe Cocker for her father/daughter dance. Hope those suggestions help, but I think your choices are only limited by the lyrics...make sure they reflect you and your Dad. Good luck!

my dad and i are going to be dancing to "changes," originally done by black sabbath but redone by ozzy and kelly. it's very cute but certainly not for everyone.

Please help me make a decision of what song to use. My father passed away so I'll be dancing this with my uncle. I was thinking of dancing to Wind Beneath my Wings by Bette Midler, or Your're my Inspiration by Chicago.
What are your thoughts?

I am using "Butterfly Kisses". I am sure that is popular, and I think it is sung by Bob Carlile (or however you spell it...).

starburst,

I like those songs... I think one of them would work well.

I used Butterfly Kisses at my first wedding to dance with my father. This time, I'm not sure what I'll use, b/c my dad most likely won't be attending. My step dad will be able to attend this time, and I don't know what song I'd want played for our dance. We didn't get along when I was a kid, although we get along fine now.

My dad & I will dance to "MY GIRL" it's his favorite, and he ALWAYS sung it to me & my sister when we were little!

This is the hardest song for me to figure out - there is no song that I have heard yet that describes my father. My father was both father and mother to me growing up - I'm daddy's little girl, he's my hero, he's one of my best friends. He's a cool dad - he's everyone's dad - the fun loving, laid back guy (except when its time to get down to business) - the guy that never told me what to do, but advised and guided. I just haven't found a song that is "it" - anyone know of any songs that aren't cliche like "wind beneath my wings" or something like that? Preferrably something country, but doesn't have to be :)

I am soooo, struggling with this right now! Our wedding is at the Jersey Shore, I am thinking "Little surfer girl", but not sure.

Reecey- Have you considered "there you'll be" by Faith Hill? It's one of those goosebumps songs that always reminds me of my hero, my daddy. :) Let me think some more, ok? I'll post if I come up with something else.

hehe yeah - that's my "contingency song" in case I don't find one that hits home a little better :) I do love the song - it does work great - I'm just hoping that someone comes out with a song that's about me and my father exactly :P Guess I better get on the phone to nashville to make that one happen, eh? :)

I understand and I just came to the conclusion that if I decide to go super sappy, I'll use In My Daughters Eyes by Martina Mcbride. Although, I am actually leaning toward a more classic feeling and I might dance with my dad to The Way You Look Tonight. If I decide to do that I'm actually going to get my 2 best friends to sing it at the reception in the style that the "vengeful **** cousins" from My Best Friend's Wedding did. lol Remember that? I loved the way they sang that.

I think I am using the song "I hope you dance" as well. The lyrics are so pretty, and inspiring. My father has always wanted nothing but the best for me, and has always told me never to give up on anything.
