here is the quick run down. i just started planning my wedding and my fiance said if i pay for the wedding he'll buy the house. okay that's fine. so now my budget is less. but that's okay, i know people in all area's. the problem is, i found the most perfect dress (to me anyway) it's from watter & watters bride syle 3098b. the problem is it cost somewhere between $600 and $1600. i didn't want to spend more then $500 and with my luck, it will cost over $1000. is there some trick that i should know on getting my dream dress? i've looked at so many other beautiful dresses but this one, it really has me. i always said i wouldn't spend $2000 on a dress, it's just for a day. but it is the most important day of my life.....well one of them anyway.
so if anyone knows something i don't (i'm sure there is someone like that.lol) then please reply, i am all ears.
thanks

Try looking for it on Ebay. I got my dress brand new off ebay for $242 including shipping. I would go to a bridal shop and try the dress on first if you are worried about it not fitting.

If you know someone that can sew then try to look at wedding dress patterns to find your dress. The material and such should be well under the $500 that you have put in your budget.

Seriously - try ebay! Do a search for this seller: bargain-hunter-hua

She made my dress - to MY MEASUREMENTS - and shipped within a month for less than $300 including shipping. Many styles to chose from!
Good luck!!!

Hi,

I agree you should find a seamstress. I myself am a seamstress. I charge $8.00 per hour. With you providing the fabric, pattern, and notions.

I have many references.

I also suggest you visit a large bridal shop and search the clearance racks, and you might try posting a want ad on www.ioffer.com the ads are free!!

Hope this helps.

Well with my wedding we had a short time to plan and a low budget so what I done was looked online and found a ok dress. I only paided $100.00 on my dress and it was pretty. I'd just look around and try to look online for some dresses maybe you can find one almost like it but cheaper!!!

Also, consider buying a "designer inspired" dress.

This site has a directory of companies that sell designer sample gowns.
http://www.guidetoweddingplanning.com/ or you can do a search on Google for designer sample wedding dresses.

If you've found the dress of your dreams, but don't want to spend that much money, I would do a search online for the manufacturer. You might find it at another store, in a different state, for hundreds less. It is worth a Google search to find out.

Good luck!

I understand your pain! I am a bride on a budget too! I found dresses i really wanted and saw how they cost over my budget! Well a friend sent me to Davids Bridal and i found a dress similar to the one i wanted and it fit right into my budget and it looked great on me. Sometimes they have $99 sales. Because of the cost of the dresses i seen i was going to buy just a pretty plain white gown with no beading or appliques. My fiance's mother and i were going to sew the adornments on ourselves until i found that dress i got at Davids. Try looking on their website www. Davidsbridal.com
they have a gown for every budget

try looking at bridesave, or look up LuLu's Boutique. It's in Lousiana. But they are like SOoooo much cheaper than any bridal salon. Hopefully that should help. Good Luck

I just bought my wedding dress this past weekend at BridalMart in Burlington, NC. I got an incredible deal on a gorgeous dress.....it is perfect and exactly what I truly wanted, but didn't think I could afford.

I would try to contact them and see if they have your particular dress. They are tough to beat prices and I personally know girls from Michigan and Florida that also purchased their dresses through BridalMart. The phone number is 336.227.0085.

Good luck!

I agree with the EBAY, I went to Alfred Angelo in San Diego, picked out 750 dollar dress, I bought it for $52.00 from an ebay store auction. Alot of these dresses are the ones used in the store for people to try on and they just have to get rid of them.....Let me know how it turns out.

I have 5 sisters- several of them rented and have not regretted it. The dresses where clean, tailored to them, and much more than they could have afforded. They now have their accessories (yea veils) and no worries about how to store a dress they will never ware again. Of course I dont know about rental options outside of Utah.

I too would suggest Davids Bridal. On their website they have beautiful wedding gowns as well as good prices. That is definately where I will be getting mine. I had a bridal gown book and I had found 2 dresses in there that I really liked and just so happens they were both from David's Bridal then I went on their website and seen a couple more that I liked too. So I think its meant to be that I get my dress there..lol Cheesy I know but things happen for a reason.. Anyway enough about me-- I went to the website it is a beautiful dress.. You could always call and see exactly how much and see if it will be on sale anytime soon and also check to see if you buy assecories or others things from the same place for the wedding if they have some kind of package deals. Not sure if there is a such thing as wedding package deals :D but worth a try asking. I am new at this also!! Good luck with your decision!

Has anyone else bought a dress from Bridesave.com? I am thinking about ordering a dress from there but am worried about the quality. I would appreciate any help. Thank you!

Here's what I am doing to fit the dress I wanted into my budget:

Got it from David's with $0 down, zero interest for a year. I plan to sell the dress immediately after the wedding.

I am getting married in September and found my dress and veil for $286. the retail was over $1000 from Mona Lee. Here in Oklahoma we have Walls Bargain Center and they bought out a dress shop. I am ordering my bridesmaids dresses from Houseofbrides.com. They are about 30% cheaper for name brands. Hope it helps!

:) I found a "bridal warehouse" where I live. They are a costume shop and wedding dress warehouse. They had a sale rack and I found a dress for half the normal price. They store called themselves "cash and carry"

Glad I saw your post. I was wondering if it would be worth the trip up to Burlington from Charlotte and it seems that it is. I will need to get up there ASAP.

how did it go with selling that dress right after the wedding?
