hey,

i have always wanted to have a rainbow wedding.......(was a tough job to convince everyone ....since they thought it would look like a circus,,,,but did managed at last ;) i was happy to see there were others who thought like me.....so i thought i'd share my ideas...

firstly we are having 7 bridesmaid all wearing the same dress pattern but in diffrent colours (with matching colour flower wreath thinges on their head) & the best man would wear similar selfcoloured shirts (pastel shades) with dark ties.
and walking right in the front would be the little flower girl dressed in a gold flirrly dress ( remember the myth at the end of each rainbow is a pot of gold)

at the enternce the uest will be given small little golden pouches with confette (its a tradition to throw confetee on the briday couple as they enter)

We wil have a 7 tier cake (rainbow colours) & on the top will be ( yeah you guessed right ) a pot of gold//with a small couple kissing on it (as in standing on the gold coins!!!!

We have a tradition at the end where the bride throws her bouque to all he spinster friends and it is believed that the girl who catches it will be the next one to get married.....now we are planning to change this tradition a little so that it fits into our theme......

,,,,,,,,,,.before that you must know that there is another myth that at the end of the rainbow there is suppose to be a LIPRICON (not sure if it is spelt that way) this is a little guy dressed in green with a gree hat & a fether at the end & it is believed that if you can catch him he will direct you yo where the pot of gold is hidden ,,,,,,,,,,,k so nw instead of throwing th bouque i will throw a small soft toy ( a green elef soft toy may be with a small feather) & to the girl who cated the Lipricon I will give a small golden pouch packed with goddies!!!!!

and for the givw aways we have not finalised it yet but it would be on the lines of a small gold pot (that can be used as a pen stand later) with colourful ribbons tied around it & filled with small gold coin chocolates......with a small thank you note in the form of a scroll inside the pot/

and for desert we will have vanilla icecream with sprinkles ( rainbow colourd)

i still cant decide wht the main center piece (underwhich we will cut the cake) should be......Any ideas????

can sm1 also help me with ideas how to decorate the church //////
for transportation i would love to have a chariot ( m nt sure hw that fits in...but tht has always been my dream) but the only problem is i avnt yet convinced my fiance on this one ( since we are from India & the traffic here is horrible)

I hope you like my ideas......and if any one has any ideas on how to apply the rainbow theme into my guestbk.....please let me know...

waiting for your ideas....

For your bouquet toss, you could do the ribbon toss. There is one ribbon tied to the bouquet. The bride that pulls that one wins the bouquet. Use multiple colored ribbons. I would attach lucky charms on each ribbon that is not attached. This way each maiden still has some luck.

For decorations, you could use multicolor Christmas lights. Use them around trees or underneath tools. You could also use multicolor icicles hanging from candlelabra.

Found this on the Internet:

Have a Rainbow Wedding. Create a rainbow to wed beneath out of brightly-colored helium filled balloons tied together in an arch. Secure them down with heavy "pots of gold" at each end. Have everyone bring a colored umbrella to decorate the aisle with. Great back plan up in case it rains!

Looking for spring wedding ideas? What could be more "spring" than rainbows?

Rainbows are a cheerful symbol of infinite beauty, optimism, hope and joy. What better theme to mark the beginning of your new life together? As a couple, your are hopeful of a bright and prosperous future as you set out hand in hand on life's journey!

Nature has provided you with the spectacular colors of rainbow - violet, indigo, blue, green, yellow, orange, red and the source of all - white.

You wedding would be fresh and brilliant as you use this "rainbow" of spring wedding colors to depict your cheery wedding theme.

Here are a few spring wedding ideas to help you get started with your Rainbow theme...

* Create rainbow bouquets out of multi coloredGerber Daisies.Or, how about white daisies laced with rainbow lollipops and tied with a beautiful multi colored bow?
* Your bridesmaids could each wear the same dress in adifferent rainbow color.

* Create hair picks or combs from crystals and everyonewear dangling crystal earrings to create rainbows of your own! Make sure the hairstyles are"up-dos" so the sun will catch the crystals.

* Decorate your guest tables with rainbow colored starfish to tie in your beach wedding theme. Theseare so cheap, they would be neat to scatter along the path to your "beach alter" too!

* Create a rainbow to wed under out of brightly colored helium filled balloons tied together. Hold them down with the "pots of gold" at each end.

* Give rainbow lollipops, stamped with your wedding date as favors.Attach your wedding "thank you" with a rainbow ribbon! Arrange them in "pots of gold" to use as centerpieces. Make your wedding favors using clear favor bags. Fill them up with "Skittles" and tie with multicolored bows. Let everyone "taste the rainbow"!

* Here are a few spring wedding ideas for rainbow wedding cakes. Ifyou are in a "do-it-yourself" mode, look at the inside of a "Duncan Hines" cake mix box. The instructions for baking tiered wedding cakes are printed there!Decorate with "Skittles" or "M&M's"! Or...make a cupcake rainbow. Make each cupcake a different color and arrange them in an arch to form a rainbow. You can either ice them in rainbowcolors or add a single "Gerber Daisy" to the top of each in different colors.

* Have your rainbow wedding cake topper custom made from crystals. You can choose your style, font, the color of your crystals...you can even have it shaped like a sea shell!

At the end of a perfect day...

If you are an adventurous couple, make your exit at the end of a perfect day in a brilliantly colored hot air balloon to the music of "Up, Up and Away" by "The 5th Dimension"!

If your reception is outside, shade the tables with brightly colored umbrellas or canopies. And remember, if it rains...

The way I see it, if you want the rainbow, you gotta put up with the rain. - Dolly Parton

to include the rainbow theme into your guest book if you are making yours you could have it shaped like a pot of gold and have the pages be different colors. If you don't like the shaped book you could just do the different color paper and print a faded pot (a watermark) of gold on each page. I think that would be cute and not too much. If you have any other questions ask away. I really love your idea. At first i wasn't so sure when i started reading but as i continued reading I feel in love with you plans they are amazing you are such a good planner. Any suggestions on what to do for a red and yellow wedding??? Tiff

Rainbow wedding theme cakes are probably one of the easier "do-it-yourself" cakes. There are so many easy ways to decorate. Multi colored candy such as "M&M's" or "Skittles", brilliantly colored frostings or flowers can all make decorating a snap. Here are a few ideas...

Here is a beautiful cake from Colettes Cakes that would be perfect for a Rainbow wedding theme.

This is my favorite! This stunning cake in a rainbow of colors was found at Deliciously Different Cakes.

What could possibly be more fitting for a Rainbow wedding theme than this "Pot Of Gold" wedding cake found at Cakes By Design. You have to check out designer Scott Clark Woolley's website. He creates the most amazing cakes.

Here is another...a little bit retro...this fun cake from Earlene's Cakes certainly covers the rainbow for colors!

http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i279/calico4sr/WS%20wedding%20pics/EarlenesRainbowTyeDye.jpg

A here's one more idea to get you going. This is made with colored candy sticks. Add a few more colors to give it more colors from the rainbow...simple though...you could do this!

You could have the BM roses match their pastel dress colors. Your bouquet could be all white or white roses with a "rainbow" of roses encircling the bottom.

Roses are a very popular flower choice when planning a themed wedding with their array of beautiful colors and fragrance. Depending upon the roses that you choose to use, they can impart either a formal or a casual atmosphere. With this particular rose wedding theme, we'll be focusing on a casual atmosphere using a chorus of the many colors that are found in a rainbow along with

corresponding roses. As for a location to hold your ceremony, a rose garden would be the most obvious choice. Just be sure to pick a time of the year that is sunny, with the least chance of rain.

Wedding Colors

We'll be working with the colors of the rainbow: Pink, red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple.

Wedding Attire

This will be a bit of a decision for the bridal couple. Do you want to stick to one color for your wedding party's attire or have each person sporting a different color? Whichever you choose, be sure to keep the style of the dresses and suits the same for all of your attendants.

Bride

Traditional white with roses embroidered on the gown. The tiara or headpiece would have roses as well. Some veils have a rose lace trim too.

Bridesmaids

Choose either one color from the rainbow or have each bridesmaid wear a different color dress... all dress styles should be the same though. Have each of them carry a matching colored single rose.

Groom and Groomsmen

Go with dark blue or green suits, rather than black. The cummerbunds and/or vests could be varying colors of the rainbow for each man. Alternatively, give each groomsmen a different colored rosebud boutonniere.

Rose Themed Invitations

If you're making your own invitations, make up your own version of the "Roses are Red" poem verse.

Alternatively, you could include the song popular children's song: "Can You Sing A Rainbow?"

Red and yellow and pink and green
Purple and orange and blue
I can sing a rainbow,
sing a rainbow,
sing a rainbow too.

Listen with your eyes
Listen with your ears,
and sing everything you see,
I can sing a rainbow,
sing a rainbow,
sing along with me.

Red and yellow and pink and green,
Purple and orange and blue,
I can sing a rainbow,
sing a rainbow,
sing a rainbow too!

Decorations

Match your theme with balloon bouquets. You can put together a "rainbow" of balloon colors for each bouquet or use balloons imprinted with roses.

At most wedding receptions, you will see the tables and some parts of the room swagged with tulle netting or gossamer. An idea for this theme would be to use a tie-dyed gossamer in rainbow colors.

Decorate an arbor for your ceremony with artificial climbing rose vines. Use this same arbor at the reception to place over the cake table or the gift table.

Use a balloon arch covered in rainbow colored balloons as a wedding arch or behind the reception headtable. Set the arch in "pots of gold" at each end. (You may even want to add a toy leprechaun at one of the pots to "guard his treasure".)

Table Decor and Centerpieces

Rose confetti will add a romantic touch to your tables. You could also sprinkle some in your invitations too.

Help to seat your guests by using rose imprinted place cards.

Scatter rose petals on the tables.

Create your own miniature "rose garden" near the gift table. Use real or fake potted roses in a variety of colors and sizes and place them at the back of the gift table. Be sure to leave a significant amount of room for gifts.

Fill clear glass bowls or large brandy sniffers with water. Sprinkle rose petals on top and add some rose-shaped floating candles. Use these as your guest table centerpieces.

Bridal Favors

Decorate small gift boxes buy secruing a large rose on top. You could also use rubber stamps and rainbow colored paint to stamp roses around the box. Fill with pastel colored jelly beans.

Give your guests rosebud shaped chocolates wrapped in cellophane bags and tied with various colored ribbons.

Everyone seems to love candles. A nice favor gift would be pastel colored long-stemed rose candles.

Two good standards that are prefect for favors are rose twinkle pops or long-stemmed, foil wrapped chocolate roses. Both types of candy can be given out individually or used as a bouquet on the table... guests help themselves.

Scented soaps are always a nice touch, especially for the ladies. Present your guests with rose soap petals (they are designed to look like rose buds).

For those guests whom you know enjoy a bottle of wine with dinner, hand out wine stopper wedding favors with a rose flower topping on them in various colors.

Bouquets and Flower Suggestions

The color of roses you should use for your flower arrangements with this wedding theme are: white, pink, red, and yellow. Fill in the arrangements with complementary flowers that are orange, blue and purple or have your roses dyed and/or tinted along the edges in those shades. Some suggestions for additional flowers are:

Purple Flowers:

Alyssum, Aster, Bachelor Button, Clematis, Cone Flower, Crocus, Gladiolas, Hyacinth, Hydrangea, Impatiens, Iris, Larkspur, Lilac, Orchid, Pansy, Snap Dragons, Sweet pea, Tulips, Wisteria

Blue Flowers:

Anemone, Bachelor Button, Bayberry, Columbine, Delphinium, Forget-Me-Not, Freesia, Hibiscus, Hydrangea, Iris, Lobelia, Lupine, Monkshood, Morning Glory, Phlox, Statice, Veronica.

Orange/Peach Flowers:

Alstromeria, Chrysanthemum, Marigold, Ranunculus, Snapdragons, Zinnia

There's a good article with instructions that I found on ehow.com regarding How to Make a Rose Bouquet for a Flower Girl, as well as one for How to Make Bridesmaid Bouquets

Wedding Cakes and Cake Toppers

Instead of the typcial white or chocolate cake, why not have your baker create a rainbow cake? Here is a sample and recipe for this type of cake: Rainbow Cake

In addition, the following links are to various cake sites that featured multi-colored rose cakes as well as cake toppers:

Cakes by Sam - There's some simple, but elegant cake styles here that feature a variety of colored roses on several of the cakes.

Sweet Sensations - Again, there's a few cakes here that feature multi-colored roses.

Veil of Roses Wedding Cake

Glass/Crystral Rose Cake Toppers

Menu and Food Suggestions

For desert you could serve rainbow colored puddings. For the pudding, have the caterer make vanilla pudding. Divide it up into 3 bowls. Add red food coloring to one bowl, blue to another and yellow to the last one. Carefully scoop a bit of each color into the serving bowls and give them a slight swirl around to mix the colors a bit.

Rainbow jello is a nice light desert and goes well with any meal. Make up several different colors of jello. Cut into cubes and add one of each color cube to individual serving dishes.

Pink and red rose colored sparkling punches are a nice drink alternative over regular juices and water.

Use organically grown rose petals in salads. They're edible.

Serve a rainbow colored cake rather than a regular white or chocolate cake.

Hey,

Sandy, thanks for your ideas,,,,,,We will be using different colored Christmas lights……..( we are having the reception in the evening in a big ground ,,,,so m sure the lights will look really nice…..) and I love your idea of using the helium balloons…..i googled it on the net & found beautiful pictures….will speak to my local vendor. I think will use it as an arc at the entrance…..

Oh and we will also have colourful balloons tied behind each chair…..will ask our guest to release them during the first dance….

Hi Taneup85, thnks so much for your guest book idea….. ,,,,I think I will use a gold book (with different colored pages...)

Denise & Cali, you guys have sent me excellent ideas for the cake……I love the pot of gold cake the best………..it will fit in perfectly….n Denise your idea of serving rainbow cake instead of regular cake really takes the cake ( ;> ) will run this idea through my fiancé hope he approves…..have not yet seen that at any of the weddings so far….it would be awesome….wouldlove to do something diffrent….Denise n cali, thank for all the wonderful ideas……

Well another thing I m nt sure i told you…….the reason we are having this “Rainbow” theme wedding is since my fiancé & I have been together for 7 yrs nw & this will be the 8th yr (remember at the end of the rainbw (7) is a pot of gold……….hope youll don’t think this is too cheesy…….

also the girls who are going to be part of my entrouge are 7 couples - all our cousins (diffrent ages...sizes...)...so you think we should have all of them wear the same pattern dress but in diffrent colours.....or should the younger ones wear smthing diffrent........????

Guys thnks so much……youll have been such a big help!!!!

WENDY!!!

it depends on how much of an age difference there is with the girls and how young the young ones are cause you don't want to put them in a dress that is too old or too young for them. I know that is something that I am using in deciding my fg dress. I would think that if it is at all possible to have all the girls wear the same dress pattern but different colors unless like i said there is a really big gap in ages there.
