What to do with the extra dress?

I need an oinion...I got my dream dress at David's Bridal and now have an "extra" dress at home. I got it for less than the $550 price, and it is very nice, but not as formal as I really wanted. So I was wondering, my MOH is about my size, what do you guys think about hemming off the train, dyeing the dress from ivory to a rum/champagne color and having her wear it for the wedding? It's an Emme Bridal, very informal and simple. I was thinking that I could then wear it for formal events later, as I end up having to dress for fundraisers and such and it would be useful.

I'll post pictures of the dress later. Or should I try to sell it and see about recouping some of my money? It was on sale for $375 when I bought it.

There are plenty of women on here looking for a dress, why dont you try selling it, and then if you cant sell it, then alter it!

Oh, and a note--the David's Bridal that I went to was patient, honest, and very flexible--they let me change my layaway entirely and I was back several times, changing my mind. They were awesome! I know many have had bad experiences, but if you live in the Central Florida area, try the location at the Mall of Millenia and ask for Valerie or Laurette, both girls are WONDERFUL, as is Jennifer, the manager at that store.

I agree with Laura about the dress. See if someone wants it, if not you can do what you wanted to do with it.

good call--my MOH tried it on and we agreed thhat while it's a great dress, it's not worth altering it if I can sell it. I need the money for other things!! I'm posting it in the For Sale area shortly!
