Who has bought there dress online? Can you suggest any sellers and what should I beware of? I have looked at some dresses and some of the sellers are in China and locations similar to that. Any suggestions or comments?

I have never ordered one, but I know many women who have ordered them and they are really great! Everyone I know have gotten some GORGEOUs dresses, even the ones from, China. Sorry I couldn't be much more help.

What ever information I can get willne helpful. Some of those dresses look great and at a good price. I don't really mind that it's a "knock off" dress. Just as long as it looks good. This will be my second time around on marriage and this will be his first. I want to look great but don't want to spend the bug bucks.

Don't blame you at all. I would say go for it, but see what others say. If you want to get a dress local, look for bridal sales or in your local paper for wedding dresses.

I got my dress on ebay! Its wonderful! Unfortunetly I think it was just a one time thing they did. I got a brand new David's bridal dress with bra, slip, veil, & purse for $285. Definitely worth it if you get a great deal. At David's Bridal, the dress was $550, JUST the dress. I also was really worried, but I made sure I chose a seller with a high # and good feedback and asked lots of questions. I must have drove that lady nuts!

Hi...I tried to post earlier, before running out the door, but, *POOF* like magic, again, my post disappeared....

What I wanted to say was:

I do not know what size you wear...., but, there is an online bridal place that sells plus size dresses...16 and up...that would be street size 12 and up I believe (the wedding dresses average 4 sizes different, but, the MEASUREMENTS are all listed). www.plussizebridal.com

They have a pretty good selection....some of the dresses are Alfred Angelo (may be knock off, but,the pics and the models are the SAME on both sites...) and some are very similiar to David's Bridal, among others. The prices tend to be a bit less, and, they have a nice return and restock policy...as long as you call within so many days of receiving it, and get a number from them, they pay for the shipping back, you just pay a $25 restocking fee on each dress, no matter HOW many times you send a dress back...

They do not do alterations, but, most bridal stores will, or will direct you to someplace that will...and, most will be LESS than David's Bridal.

Currently, some of the dresses are on sale as discontinued....still available in limited sizes, others are just half off the original price other places.

There are some other places you may be able to get some value packed wedding gowns.....I too do NOT want to spend an arm and a leg on a dress that I will only wear once, and only for an hour...our reception is a casual bbq, so, I will be out of the dress by the time the reception gets kicking.

Check bridal shops in your area that are going out of business....even if they are 90 minutes away....you may be able to CALL them, to see if they will have ANYTHING that may be in your size or style, or price range, before driving up there, but, if they are going out of business, they USUALLY want to SELL EVERYTHING...so, they may be willing to make you the DEAL of a LIFETIME on a wedding gown.

There are a few wedding sites (ads) that will sell wedding gowns New/ Used at some GREAT deals. I am trying to find the link, but, I am having problems getting my computer to search with multiple windows open.

They list the gowns as: New with TAGS attatched, New with tags REMOVED, and USED (worn in a wedding). That is the site I am trying to find. That site lists the gowns by STREET size...doesn't matter WHAT the gown said it's size was....since various manufacturers call a "10" a 6 or an 8 or a 12 or a 14. I will keep looking and see if I can find it for you.

Another site to look at is: www.freeweddingclassifieds.com They list wedding gowns, and EVERYTHING else too. Vendors, decorations, entertainment, you name it.

Just some ideas, hope it helps.

Good luck.

p.s. I have heard that some people are looking to DYE their wedding dress so they can wear it as a dress later....and have it altered length wise. Another option....is to go with a 2 piece seperates....I know that David's Bridal has that under bridesmaids...and has a FEW to select from in WHITE or IVORY...then, you could at LEAST wear the top again...even if under another shirt, or, have the skirt dyed another color. I had looked at that...and, I could make a wedding dress out of the mix and match seperates for $150.00 I could even add a "bolero" (spelled wrong I am sure) jacket, or a shawl/wrap for a little more....And I would be able to wear the TOP at the BBQ.....

Hey,

Dyeing a wedding dress? Never thought of that. But, mine is too formal to really wear again. Either I'll stash it away for a renewal ceremony years down the line, or sell it to some shop for someone else to get use out of it.

I got my dress on ebay. I watched about 10 different ones and I made an offer on one that no one bid on when the auction was almost up. I got my dress for $150 and it is so beautiful. It used to be a try on dress at a store. I was crossing my fingers, but when I got it, 3 days after I bought it, there were no signs of wear. I think if you do your homework and search enough you can get a real good deal. I also went to a bridal store and tried a few dresses on to find the exact style I wanted to buy.
Happy shopping
Rebecca

Hi

I'm buying a Maggie Sottero knockoff on ebay for less than $200. The seller comes very highly recommended. They're in China, but they are soooo helpful! They are making it without the train, in red, for no extra cost; plus they are sending me a photo of the fabric beforehand so I can make sure I like it. The seller is bridalmarket. If you want I can email you when I get the dress (It will prolly be January before I order it.)

You can get some great deals on ebay(as we all know). That's how I got my weddingmoon package.Just be careful, read tips that ebay offer for buying on line and use paypall-this way the purchase can be tracked. Also sense your a smaller size the dress can always be taken in if it doesn't fit perfectly or is off in some way.
