I need some advice on how to deal with family member who seem to think that they should get an opinion on things like wedding flowers and decorations. Everyone keeps telling me that it's my wedding and I should do what I want, but there is a family member who disagrees with some of the things I want to do. Since that person may be putting up some of the funds for the event, should I have to buckle and do it their way? Especially if it's an item that they may not be paying for? And more importantly how do you politely tell them that you want to do it your way and that they just planned a wedding where they got everything that they wanted so they can leave my wedding alone.

Ummm, no. If they're not paying for the item, then they have no say. If they are, and they want to do something that disagrees totally with what you had in mind and won't see reason, then scale back and pay for that item yourself. As for telling them, just be tactfully honest. They had their day, now you would like to have yours. Say something like: you enjoyed theirs a lot, and got some really good ideas from them, and you have some others you would like to use as well, and it will be a challenge using all the great ideas but you'll be sure to let them know if you need some advice! (And then don't, if you don't want to!) Good luck! :)
