View Full Version : need some opinions

OK girls. I need some HONEST OPINIONS. I'm making this a poll so hopefully I'll get more honesty. I am not in a hurry yet and have not purchased the dress.

If you don't like the dress and don't want to remark why- no problem. If you want to remark why don't worry about hurting my feelings- I take criticism very well and that's why I'm doing this poll in the first place.

We all have different opinions in style so I'm just wondering what the majority thinks.

Thank you in advance :)

By the way- I would take the straps off the dress. No sure if I want the princess cut neckline or straight yet. You can comment on that as well if you please.

Wow you're quick LOL.

I had to make it public..... it wouldn't let me submit the poll. Will I know who chooses what (specific peson) or will it just tell me how many people chose 1 or 2 etc.??

KatylovesNick

It will just tell you numbers, most people will tell you what they think underneath the poll.

I like the dress and its cute the way it is I am fan of the sweetheart top and I think the little sleeve also gives the dress personality but you could go either way(strapless or not).

No, don't be sorry. I appreciate your honesty. I keep thinking the same thing-that maybe there's something better out there but I compare every dress to this one.

Summer07
08-28-2006, 01:52 PM
Oh yeah I felt beautiful in it... but I felt beautiful in a lot of them lol
I'm really horrible at making decisions and at that price tag it's really hard to make the decision.

KatylovesNick
08-28-2006, 01:58 PM
WEll the best advice is buy something that makes you feel beautiful, buy something you know there will be tears in everyones eyes and buy something because it is what you envisoned. You will know when THE ONE is there.. When that happens you will not walk out the store without it. :)

Summer07
08-28-2006, 02:02 PM
I've heard that from a couple people... "you will know as soon as you put it on" I've also heard the opposite, they didn't know, slept on it for months, kept looking and just ***e back to it. They ended up knowing the whole time it was the one just not ready to make the decision.
I think I'm going to continue looking and we'll see... I still have a couple months before I have to make up my mind.
Thank you Katy

OMG!!! You look so pretty, wait no, pretty is not the word. You look WAY better than pretty. I love the dress. I really like that kneckline. I also like the cap sleeves. I was thinking of getting removalble cap sleeves put on mine so I could wear them for the ceremony but take them off for the reception. That would be my version of a veil. HA HA!

It's a Maggie Sottero- Destin.... I looked everywhere for it. I had to drive 2 hrs. to the nearest store just to try it on. But I can order it around here, just no store in my area had one on stock.

I was thinking about that with the cap sleeves. They are a little itchy and because the dress was soooo big on me I couldn't get a good feel on how it would look. Maybe I'll have it made with the sleeves and if I don't like it then have it removed as part of my alterations.

Do you have pictures of other dresses you tried on so we could compare?

Summer07
08-29-2006, 08:54 AM
No.... I only took pictures of that one because it would be my only time to try that one on.

I tried it on in a smaller size 2 months ago and the store sold it off the rack and they weren't planning on reordering.
I wanted to try it on again because I had tried on like 20 different dresses that day and I had narrowed it down to 3. When I returned to the store I didn't like the 2 and the 3rd was sold so... you know the rest.

They were all so similar so that is definitely the style I like.... I just don't remember having the flower design made out of the crystals, I thought the crystals were just circles sparatically (sp) across the dress.

Yea, I know how that works, that is why when I got my dress I bought it right then and there. I am just impatient. Keep us updated on the dress front.. :)

I actually tried that dress on because my sister loves it. I didn't think it looked that good on me, but it looks great on you even though it's too big!

The way I'm judging if it's the dress I should buy or not is by my Mother's and MIL's expressions. They just get this look on their face. From my experience when my mother looks at me that way, my FH does too.

KatylovesNick
08-31-2006, 06:36 AM
Does your FH know the dress you are wearing??

Summer07
08-31-2006, 08:09 AM
No he doesn't know. I don't want him to see my dress before the wedding. After I order it I'll keep the dress at my moms house. I've asked him what kind of style he likes- he just said as long as it doesn't look like a "tea-cup" and have too much design on it then it's fine. I know his taste by now so I'm sure he'll like it.
I'm going to throw him way off and "accidently" leave a picture of another dress laying around the house. He saw a picture of a dress similar to this one so I just want him to be very very suprised.

KatylovesNick
08-31-2006, 08:20 AM
hahah excatly. That is what I want. I think that is the whole fun of the wedding is the not knowing. I saw my friends wedding dress before she got married. It was still very emotional but it would have been more so if I hadn't seen the dress.

Summer07
08-31-2006, 08:26 AM
oh no. I'm showing my friends and my moms. I don't care who sees it as long as Steve doesn't and they all know not to say anything to him.

KatylovesNick
08-31-2006, 08:27 AM
haha I want everyone to be surprised. Although I have shown many people because I am so excited about it. hahaha

Summer07
08-31-2006, 08:35 AM
Yeah, it's hard enough keeping it from him. I'm going to die once the dress comes in- I have to share the joy with somebody. Really the only people that have seen or will see the dress are my mom, and my 2 fmil's and my bridal party which is my best friend and my sisters.

KatylovesNick
08-31-2006, 09:02 AM
:) I was lucky enough to take it off the rack and bring it right home, we had to drive three hours to get to Davids Bridal.. So thank goodness we do not have to go back. But I can imagine the anticipation for it to come in would be awful. haha

Summer07
08-31-2006, 09:22 AM
To come in... haha- I haven't even ordered it yet. I think I'll continue looking for the next month or so just to see and if I don't find anything better I'll buy this one.

Yes, I am very happy with it and I think it looks good on me, it's just such a huge decision to make that I'm not ready to make yet. Geez, it takes my best friend and I like an hour just to decide what bar we're going to go to when we go out. And dinner- sometimes we don't eat until 10 cuz we can't decide. Hmmm, I really need to work on that.

KatylovesNick
08-31-2006, 09:24 AM
hahah how funny. Thats right, I am such a dork I forgot that you hadn't ordered it yet you are still trying to make your decision.. Sorry. BUt I am sure WHEN you order it, it will be exciting.
I am crazy about making a decision, we never have that problem I know it annoys FH but I have to know where we are going at least a day ahead of time. I am a changaphobic. I HATE HATE HATE change.. awful.

Love ths dress!! The roushing on the side will make your waist look so small. I bet the beads really sparkle in the lights too. I dont like it with the straps though that doesnt look too good. Otherwise what a great dress!

Ok- I love the dress! It is absolutely beautiful. I know that you're not sure if its "the one" and I had the same feeling about the dress I bought. But- I discovered something I think may be helpful to you.
You often read about women who know their dress was "the one" because it made them cry or whatever the case with me. I didn't feel any of that with any of the dresses I tried on. Every dress was beautiful, each was white, each was the cut and style I wanted and I felt good in each. But at the end of the day, I kept picturing myself in the dress I ended up buying.
So- anyway I guess what I'm saying is don't necessarily expect to get this "feeling". It is-after all- only a dress. Its the marriage that really matters.

Thank you for everybody that responded... I haven't been on a while, school has taken up too much of my time.

I did finally buy a dress... It's a very similar dress but it's a slim A-line instead of a regular A-line. Colby by Maggie Sottero if you're interested :)

JustJenna- that was my exact problem... I was worried about purchasing one in fear of finding another one I loved and this not being "the one"
I loved it when I tried it on but I wasn't completely satisfied. I kept thinking how FH would have liked it... I want to bring tears to his eyes when I'm walking down the aisle. I expressed that to him and he told me that it's just one dress and one day.... that I will look beautiful in anything I put on, because I already am beautiful.
Just like you said... It is only a dress. It's the marriage that really matters.
