Hi Ladies!

I'm Angela and I am getting married this October in Sedona AZ. I was wondering if anyone knew of a website or could suggest a site that sells vintage type gowns-the ones that lace up to the neck with longer sleeves and a 1950s or 1960s feel? I waited too late and one website has only a size 8 left, I'm an 18-20.

I had a lady working on my dress for 3 months-had to get a refund because there were issues with her and the company....she did rfund my money though, took 3 months so now I am at square one.

Thanks all!

Send me a picture of the dress that you were looking at getting along with your measurements, and the date of the wedding. I may be able to make one for you and have it delivered in more than enough time. Send the info to givenk@katgivendesigns.com and I'll quote you a price and a time frame. I've had to work miracles for brides in less than two months. Don't panic something can still be done.

Angela--I did an Ebay search earlier and there were several vintage style gowns, some with short sleeves, some longer. Also, David's Bridal has a nice dress that's available in plus sizes, it's a long-sleeve lace overcoat over a strapless. I don't know the style number but it's on their website.
Good luck!

Hi angela!

I actually restore alot of vintage wedding gowns so I might be able to help you find what you're looking for.

I'm a little confused by what you're looking for. Dresses that lace up the back are either a renaissance style (you won't likely find a GENUINE renaissance gown outside of a museam) or a newer reproduction. The lace up tops and long sleeves were actually a 70's style, with the revival of romantic styles. The early 50's had alot of bias cut gowns with cape speeves or long sleeves while the mid to late 50's were actually comprised mostly of ballgowns or sheaths with detatched trains. The early 60's were similar to the 50's.... lots of pretty ballgowns, and the late 60's is when the romantic gowns ***e into style, lots of empire waists, fitted sleeves, etc.

ALL very pretty. If you can give me a better idea of exactly what you're looking for, I might be able to point you in the right direction. Post some photos! :) Vogue pattern company makes alot of really beautiful reproduction vintage patterns for wedding gowns (bought one this weekend!) and any seamstress can sew them and you can even buy vintage patterns on ebay. (Again, bought many of those myself!)
