Okay, I just got engaged two months ago, but I've already started wedding preparations. My first thing on my list to find was my wedding gown and I started a week after I got engaged. 40 dresses later, I found the one I wanted and put a minimum deposit down on it. I've heard that weddings are somewhat difficult to plan, so I've decided to start right now, but people keep telling me that I'm crazy, and that I should wait about 6 months before the wedding before I start planning. What should I do?

You can never be too prepared. Start a wedding notebook of things you like such as flowers, cakes, etc...

Don't sign any contracts until you're postive you have what you want. There is no harm in doing things at a slower pace, afterall- you DONT want to be rushed.

Definitely, DEFINITELY start right now. Of course, it depends on when you've set your date -- if you're getting married in 6 months, obviously you'll have to work a little faster than if you're getting married in a couple years. We were engaged for 16 months and still ended up running around like chickens with our heads cut off at the last minute, and it wasn't a large or elaborate wedding. The notebook is a good idea. (Don't fall for one of those $40 "bridal organizers" that are decorated all cutesy you see in the magazines....just get a binder with some paper, dividers and pockets. If "lace-edged header cards" are that important to you, you can make them yourself for about 50 cents! :p )
