I am stuck on what I want to use for center pieces. I am having a firefighter themed wedding, so obviously something fire department related. The few ideas that I have:
Getting child size fire boots (use one on each table) and fill with flowers that match my theme (red and gold roses) cost around $10 each
I wanted to use fire in the centerpieces some how so I thought about using glass bowls with floating candles, but I don't know how to incorporate the fire theme.
I think I like the way the fire boots would look, but I was hoping not to have to spend that much.
I would love any ideas.

Thats cute idea.. Or get fire hydrants, I have seen fire hydrant candles and I have seen them for vases at the local craft store...

what about toy firetrucks surrounded by votives on a square mirror? you could use the mirror to reflect the candle light.

The mirror and votives would work really well. We're doing that at our reception. It really makes the place glow.

Ok....this is going to seem a LITTLE weird, but....
Coming from a BIG fire/EMS family, I DO understand what you have in mind (my brother and his wife ACTUALLY left the wedding and rode to the reception in a firetruck), but....I was thinking that either the GALLS catolog, or the OUR DESIGNS catolog MAY have some ideas for you.
Then, while on the OUR DESIGNS website....I got thinking...."WHAT DOES EVERY FIRE SOCIAL FUNCTION HAVE??" "Customized Large Glass Beer steins!!" How about getting some of them made up for you wedding/doubles as favors, and then you can put votive candles in them for the reception itself...to maintain some "FIRE and LIGHT" going one.
You may EVEN be able to fill the steins part way with water and do a floating candle in each of them.
Here is the link for the beer steins...and also for the ourdesigns site.

Maybe this will kind of sound tacky to you - hopefully not. But how about those plastic firemen hats that little kids wear? They would be cheaper I'm sure, and you could probably decorate them with flowers and things. It's just a thought......
Or maybe a dalmation if you can find one that you think is big enough and not too expensive. I always think of firemen whenever I see a dalmation.
Or how about a centerpiece that looks like a fire alarm like the ones in schools?
Hopefully I helped you out a bit, good luck I hope that you find your perfect centerpiece.
