Any ideas or thoughts on not wearing a white dress? Mine is made by demetrious and it is called "coffee". Coffee isnt really the right word as it isnt that dark....its more like light gold or champagne. However, I am trying to picture the dress with my wedding colors of white and burgundy....any thoughs. Is anyone else not wearing white?

I'm wearing an ivory dress and having ivory and royle blue for my colors.
I think the burgundy will look great, but I'm not so sure on the white???? I thought about that when I picked my colors.

I'm with steel. Burgundy and Ivory make a great match. I don't think ivory and white go so well.

I am not having any ivory in my wedding....
I was thinking that just the champagne and burgundy go well, but does it matter that the table cloths and chair covers are white when my dress is champagne?

Sorry about the ivory thing. I think it is ok that the table cloths and chair covers are white. Maybe if you could add an overlay in gold that would be a nice touch but don't and any champagne to your tables, you woud get lost. You don't want to blend in, you want something that will bring your dress out from the crowd. I think I said that right.?

Thats what I was thinking mabye adding burgundy to the tables and chairs though. Goled would also look nice.

OMG! I love that light gold/champagne color! I wanted a dress in that color sooooooooooooo bad! It looked so good with my skin tone too! But when my H caught wind of the dress colors I was looking at he asked me "You are wearing a WHITE dress, right?" He was afraid of what his family might think since they are kind of traditional and that color used to mean certain things. So I ended up with an ivory dress because I just can't wear WHITE white... it makes me look too pale and washed out. I was okay with it in the end... so its not like I was unhappy with the compromise. I LOVE that color though!

I can not wear white either. It makes me look washed out and ivory made my skin look dirty, so I went with the champagne dress. I have it already, just worried about it a little....
I plan for the reception to look something like this...

I was just thinking if I might look weired with the white in there as well. My flowers a white lilies and deep red/burgundy roses.

Yes, I see what you mean. You're afraid there would be too much color contrast. What about ivory table clothes? That wouldn't look so harsh with your dress. Oh wait... then the flowers wouldn't match. ;)

My FH is stuck on me wearing white because he is very traditional I am far from traditional. I am being nice by wearing something in the family of white. I am going for a champagne/goldish dress with gold accents. As far as tablecloths go I never thought about the other color.

Hi MK777
You are the first Demetrious Bride I have heard of - other than myself!! What dress are you wearing? This is the link to mine:
http://www.demetriosbride.com/us/index.php?page=collection_illusions_06
It is style number 3036
I am from the UK..............most UK brides seem to be picking Maggie Sottero gowns (white, A line, strapless) and mine is really different!

Your dress is so pretty. I myself was almost a Demetrios bride (style # 892) But ended up getting this dress instead:

I fell in love with it when I put it on.
But I thought the Demetrios dress was still pretty.

Hey,
Sorry but I couldn't help myself. I'm kind of traditional, but I can bend or break completely with the times. I hope that you're wearing pink b/c you want to and it looks lovely, not just b/c of the child thing. I'm not trying to offend any real traditionalists, or anyone else on here, but I have a slight problem with rules, especially when it comes to the whole wearing white thing. Strictly my personal belief, brides to be should wear what they want not what others want them to. Sorry for stepping on toes! I didn't mean to!!!
