This is probably a dumb question, but I am wondering if you are getting fresh flowers on your cake, do you get that through the cake or flower person?

Not dumb! I have no idea! Have you thought about doing silks on the cake?

Usually the person making your cake will put flowers on the cake. But for a bit of advice.. say you do not want flowers on the cake and get some yourself at the florist or the craft shop. It is MUCH cheaper and you can arrange them anyway you want.

Alright thanks, I will probably just do that then to save some money :)

Yeah I agree some of the charges on things are ridiculous.

Espically when they charge you so much already. We were lucky and our venue allows us to get a cake through them included with our package plan. But before that we were going to pay almost $1000 for a cake.

I have a quick question...does anyone know is it safe to put artificial flowers on a cake? I'm just asking cause I am having a small bouquet of flowers put on top of our cake but someone has told me that the floral **** isn't safe to put into food. I guess it's bad if it gets into the food??? If anybody knows if that's true please let me know. Thanks!

Sorry Heather I am not trying to take over your post :) I just thought this might be fitting here. Hope that's ok.

I think that if you just push the ends of the flowers in you would need **** or to put the bunch together.. Perhaps have something there to prevent the flowers from touching the cake, they have clear plastic plates to put on top to stop it.. I am not sure if the affects of **** on cake..

Regarding the flowers, you should check with your baker. Some will provide flowers, while others don't. It may also be part of the contract that any flowers be purchase through your baker, so check with them first.

Both artificial and real flowers can be dangerous. Most bakers have a special tube (not sure what it is call - ask your baker) that they can provide or use so that the flowers won't touch the cake.

KKF- I would think that you could just stick the ends into the cake too, especially if they are artificial, I wouldn't think that would do any damage.

I know our venue will do the cake too so maybe I will go through them cause they offer a package deal where you get the invites, cake, and dj for about 1600.00, just think I will check around first and see if it would be cheaper to do them all separate.

oh and all flowers are not edible. I think roses are as long as the were grown w/o pesticides...

My flower person provided the flowers for my cake. I don't know anything about the charges for the cake person to put them on though. My flower person just dropped the flowers off and the cake person (a friend who made the cake for free) put them on.
