Me in my dress... I am not sure about it because I have flappy arms, but I am working on getting them down. I am going to Jazzercise 5 days a week, hope it pays off!!!

Wow Katy! you look very pretty in that dress. The best exercise I've done for my arms is swimming, if you have access to a pool then you can get a great workout because of the resistance. If you can't do the pool thing, then by a set of dumbells-they have a set of 3 different weights that are coated with rubber(?) so they aren't going to blister your hands you can buy for about $25. And then just do different types of lifts, another good one is to use like an 8 pound weight in one hand and a 5 pound in the other so your arms work harder to distribute weight better. This has worked well for me so far!

Thanks so much for the tip. I have always had flabby arms because when I was almost 300 pounds I lost quite a bit of weight in a fast amount of time and my skin didn't have time to rebound, so it is really hard to get them firm. I just want nice shoulders and if my arms are not perfect, well hopefully no one will notice! :)
Its amazing what wedding dresses can do to hide imperfections around the middle though. I hope on my wedding day I feel as good as I did when I first put that dress on.

katy, i'm a bit older than you but i also lost a lot of weight fast and know whatcha mean about the 'batwings'...but luckily you are young. Since I am older..this is my dress...

i'm having it made in a blood red with a black under gown...we're having a halloween wedding and my FH's favorite color is red.

Yea, I call them my propellers hahaha. I get wind resistance from them, that is the joke I always say to my FH about them hahahaha. I am trying my hardest to get rid of them.
Your dress is amazing, I think it will look amazing, the sleeves are a really nice accent. :)

Hey Katey we have the same dress!!! lol I was so worried that no one but me liked it. When I put my order in at david's bridal they said no one else had ordered that dress yet at that store. You look amazing in it by the way. I was just jokingly trying it on cause when my mom saw it in the window she made a comment about "how could anyone wear black on their wedding dress" so I tried it on and when I ***e out she had tears in her eyes. Needless to say she took back that comment instantly and all she could say was "wow". I am so excited to wear it! Only 5 weeks left!!

ahha hahaha, I wanna see pictures! Yea that was the same thing for me. I thought ehh, my colors are black and yellow so i thought what the hell. I had it in my mind that I didn't want strapless and I didn't like the black. But i put it on and it was perfect, everyone in the store stopped and looked and my mom just had those teary eyes like you said. SOLD!!!! :)

LOL! Well I don't have pics cause I have a snoopy FH. He is dying to see my dress so I didn't want any pics until the wedding. :) But as soon as the wedding is done I'll definately post pics. Your colors sound really pretty and original. Ours are red and black. You hear a lot of red and black but you're the first black and yellow. How's your planning going? I was going to ask you where you got the black wrap from? I love that!

I actually got it from Davids Bridal, it worked great to hide my flappy arms! hahaha. Planning is going great, I still have another year or so to plan so we are going slowly. But we are doing Daisy flowers and roses as our flowers so that is what the yellow comes into. But we have our invitiations that we are doing ourselves and centerpieces and reception site and so on. If you go to my wedding journal on My Journal webpage "I'm getting married" there are a ton of other pictures that I am doing for my wedding I cannot wait! Are your bridesmaids wearing black or red? I am getting black bridesmaids dresses so they tie in well with my dress and the grooms are wearing black tuxes with yellow vests and ties.... OH I CANNOT WAIT! :) I am sure you are bursting with only 5 more weeks left.
Yea, my dress is hanging in my closet and I know everyday my FH wants to sneak a peak! :)

Thank you ladies! I went for another fitting today and this time, Mom was with me....(tears...). I was a little melancholy since my Dad just passed away last Saturday (8/12), 3 weeks before our wedding, so it has been a tough for all of us this week. I realized that in my heart, I thought he would be here for the wedding, though we already knew he was on borrowed time. On the other hand, I am so grateful that I was able to show him the pictures of how I would look in my wedding gown. My Mom and siblings all said to go forward with our wedding, not to postpone, so here we are. My fitting went great! I am so happy with the shop owner who desinged it and is now altering it to my additional requests. A few small details to go......will keep you posted.

Bought mine a couple of weeks ago.. too big but I don't have to go until Dec to get altered b/c I am losing weight... 21lbs so far!

My secret to losing weight is ATKINS! i swear... I was so skeptical but it really works. Fh and I have been on for a month. I have lost 21.5 and he has lost something like 26. Yea I miss the bread and sweats but I know I will love the final outcome and how I look in my dress. I have a saying that I have ****d to my computer screen "Nothing tastes as good, as being thin feels" So whenever I get the munchies for something sweat at work.. I look at it and remember. yea it's hard sometimes and I have slipped... but Atkins is so easy to get back on. it's a lot of Meat, chicken and cheese... but FH mom bought aus an ice cream maker so we make our own ice cream (super low carb) and it satisifes.
I love love love love my dress. I got it from a store where I didn't think I would find anything in my size... I went in and the woman gave me this dress to put on so we could put other dresses over it and I would feel confortble... well I loved it and stopped looking. My dress is a Mori Lee and retails for $1700.00... the best part is that I only paid $400. I love sales!

That is what I have done is the atkins and I have lost about 25 pounds its a miracle!! You look amazing. I was going to start doing it now, but my wedding is a year away, so about 5 months before I am going on Atkins again. It is hard to stay on, but there are ice creams, cookies and bars that are low carb and work wonders. I love the Atkins chocolate. Amazing, keep up the good work!!

I know, it does make you feel better dosen't it? That is why I am not on Atkins this summer, I LOVE summer fruit. But this winter i am going back on.. Eat some fruit, its better then just craving it. I realized that i felt crappy when I didn't have vitamin C. So have a few pieces of fruit it will take good! :)

Thank you - you are right, he will be looking down on me. We are doing 2 memorial candles, along with a picture of him and another picture of one of my best friends Caroline, who also died in Feb of this yr. Worst part, she was also one of my bridesmatrons (69 yrs old). Her husband will be attending the wedding, so I wanted to make a tribute to both Dad and Caroline. We are setting them up on the same table as our guest sign in.

I am beginning to get some jitters. I am trying not to think about it too much, however, you can't help not to. Although everything is pretty set- final payment to 2nd caterer (latin food & wedding cakes) tomorrow and all will be done. Small details here and there (which I should really be doing right now). Called the owner of Horse & Carriage place today and we are ready to go on his part too. First out of town guest (my aunt) arrived yesterday from Puerto Rico. Starting Monday, the next guests begin to arrive (my grandson and mama). People will be coming into FL from then on through Friday nite.....OMG....did I forget to mention, amongst everything, my 44th B'day is on Thursday LOLOLOL! Guess I will be drinking and partying all weekend I just hope I recover for our flight on Wed! Too boot, we are having an after party on Sunday for family and friends to celebrate even more for Labor Day!

That must be very hard losing your father before your wedding. Just know that he will still be there with you even though you can't see him. I lost my mother five years ago and my FH lost his mother last year. It's hard but it does get easier. Good luck to you and your family.
