And I haven't even tried it on!

I really want it, but I can't afford it. :( Maybe I'll try it on and realize that I don't like it.
Anyhow, can anyone think of a dress that's similiar, but more affordable? We've got really small budget. The main thing I like is the rose and the brooch. I'm already planning on my bridesmaids wearing rose, so this fits perfect.
Thanks!

Hey katylovesnick- we're figuring out exactly the date for our wedding and it's going to be either august 25th or sept 8th! And we started dating August 2nd of 2002!
If we'd gotten engaged may 25th like you I'd be a bit freaked out right now!

Have you considered buying a similar dress within your budget and having it altered to look like it? you could buy the fabric at Joanne's and have it added on...just a thought....it is a beautiful dress! Good Luck! :)

Hey September! 1st things 1st, call around to the bridal shops and see if they have this to try on. Worst case scenario is that you fall in love with the dress and then you REALLY want it. This was my story, I to fell in love at 1st site with a maggie dress-
http://www.maggiesottero.com/dress.aspx?keywordText=grace+kelly&searchId=466491096&keywordType=any&page=0&pageSize=8&style=J135
I called around and found a shop that had it in my size(18 at the time) which was a fluke, so I went to try it on and then I absolutely fell in love with it! I didn't think it was going to make as big of an impression since the model in the picture is perfect I wasn't hoping for the best on my body. You just never know! After finding out that it was just over $900 I decided to keep looking, but every dress I tried on afterwards just didn't compare and ultimately I decided that I had to walk down the aisle in this dress. So, I ***e up with the deposit(50%) and ordered it in May, I should be getting it in a couple weeks and I'm really excited and nervous! I've lost 30 pounds since I ordered it so I hope the alterations aren't going to shock me but I think I'll try to bargain on getting them for free since I am paying $900 after all. My advice to you again is to try it on. If you truly love it you will probably not be able to find anything else you like as much and since you are not gettin married for another year you have time to save up if you really want it. You might only wear it one day for 8 hours, but when you find the one you'll know it, just like your FH! Don't let the price tag deter you from your dream dress, I only planned on spending $400! I cut the cost elsewhere and if the dress is something you really want cut your budget on other things like invitations, favors, food, and flowers. Good Luck!!

Well I don't know if this will help you, but it's an interesting tip that I've found to be true. My mother was shopping at the Goodwill the other day and she told me that there were wedding dresses there....basically brand new, I guess the bridal shops didn't really get a chance to sell them or something. They might've been from a spring collection that were never bought. Anyway, we saw some dresses there that were originally like $1,300.00 and at the Goodwill they were priced at $99.00!!!! They were brand new too, the only thing that they needed was maybe a cleaning or something from being in the store, but otherwise they looked brand new and were very gorgeous I must say. Unfortunately when I went I didn't think that I saw any Maggies, but it's just nice to know that the Goodwill does that. I was just passing this on just in case it might be helpful. ^_^ But yeah as PurpleAngel said, you could always go to Joann or even Michael's and get some frabric or ribbon and have someone sew it onto a dress for you if you'd like. I know that one of my friends is considering making her own dress for her wedding. So I guess that that's always an option if you or anyone else you know is handy with a needle and thread. I hope that I helped you out a bit. Good luck in finding your dream dress, by the way it is very pretty! ^_^ I love Maggie dresses!!! Good luck again, ^_^.

This web site custom makes dresses, I e-mail them a picture of the corination gown on princess diaries 2 and they said they could do it for about $600.00 and that dress seems to be more work then the one your looking at, It is by the way a very pretty dress. You could send them a pic and see if they can make it or maybe they have one they can make look like that one, they do alterations and add ons pretty cheap also. Good Luck.

Thanks for the advice everyone. I don't know why I never thought about just getting a plain one and getting it altered to look like the one I want. My FMIL is great at things like that! Duh.
But I am definately going to call around because I really want to try it on!
Thanks again everyone!

Dear Sept07Bride,

I suggest trying on the dress to see if you like the way it fits you. And if you fall in love with it even more once you have tried it on go to http://www.preownedweddingdresses.com. This is a website where previously owned wedding dresses are sold. I've seen quite a few Maggie dresses on this site. Some dresses are samples that being sold at huge discounts and others have been previously used and offer even bigger discounts. Anyways, I thought it would be worth checking out. Hope this helps!

I love Maggie! My dress is Symphony in ivory tafetta. I dont know where you are from but my dress was $800. It is part of the fall collection for this year, they just took it out of the box when i tried it on! It was actually more money than the other Maggies. Look around and call all the places within driving distance to find the best deal

Check out Davids Bridal, they have a very similar one and you can order any color sash you'd like. I love the Maggie dresses as well, but I'd rather spend the extra money on clothes for the honeymoon!

Try David's Bridal. A lot of people complain about their service, but they have a lot of plain dresses and then you can buy a coordinating sash, like the one you like, and a brooch. That way, you get everything you want. And, if you decide not to get the gown there, you can at least get the sash and brooch there.

I think you should go try the dress on :) After you get fitted for it, if you really want it - buy it from a discount online vendor that is trusted

That's what I did. I got my 1000.00 dress for 350 and it was perfect. If you want more info, PM and I'll get it for you or check out my journal - it tells a bit about my dress in there :)
