This is just a warning to those who have not purchased their wedding dress or bridesmaid dress yet. I have very unhappy with DAVID'S BRIDAL!!! I had bought my wedding dress and went back later to buy my bridesmaid dresses. On both occasion I had asked them about the return policy and both times (two different locations) told me I could not receive cash back but could return dress or dresses for other merchandise in the store. I have now had a bridesmaid that is unable to be in my wedding so I took the dress in to exchange it for my vail and shoes. The assistant manager told me that all sales are final and I could only exchange the dress for the same dress in a different size. The great thing is the dress has been discontinued so even if I wanted to do this I couldn't. I was not asking for my money back in fact I know with the shoes and vail and my flower girl shoes and the fact that I was going to do all the alterations there I would have exceeded the amount of the bridesmaid dress by hundreds of dollars. They would have ended up getting a lot more. To make matters worse the assistant manager told me they would e-mail the home office and ask if they can do anything for me and call me the back the day to let me know the response. It has now been 5 days and they have not even had the courtesy to let me know the decision either way. I do not recommend David's Bridal in Sunset Hills or any other location!!

I am sorry for your situation. It sounds horrible. I haven't heard good things about David's Bridal. Can you go to another store and exchange it? I would try that. Or call another store not in your area and ask what the return policy is. If it is different, have them fax a copy to you and bring it to the store for proof that the manager can exchange it for other items.
Good luck!

I've heard a few horror stories with David's Bridal. Some people are just lucky to have good people working in the stores around them.

Aww man that scares me. I'm getting my dress from David's Bridal. It's actually still there right now. I'll be picking it up soon. I will be getting my bridesmaid dresses from there too. Hopefully that will go smoothly. I've heard good and bad things about David's Bridal.
My friend (whose wedding I'm going to be in this September) got her bridesmaid dresses from there too and she had a horrible experience. I have to go there today to exchange my bridesmaid dress that I"m using for her wedding for a smaller size. I called them up just a couple minutes ago and they're holding the smaller size for me right now. Hope they won't give me a hard time when I actually go to exchange it later.
Sorry you had such a bad experience there.

You know its funny, I went to David's bridal with so many expectations of finding something amazing and the people would be so nice. Well I went there and found a GREAT dress and couldn't be happier. But the women I dealt with pretty much wanted to make me cry. she was pushy, rude and just did not know much. She made me feel very unattractive and it was not the day I Imagined. Finally I told her I didn't need her help and found the BEST dress. I hated that I had to buy it there since she was such a witch, but the dress was PERFECT and made all the other brides tear up.. But good luck with everyne else!

Just in case anyone was wondering. I did end up going to David's Bridal yesterday to exchange the bridesmaid dress I had for my friend's wedding for a different size. It was quick and easy. It might have been like that because I was working directly with the store manager and I was exchanging it for the same exact dress.

I too really hated David's Bridal!! We went there for my maid of honor's dress, and they treated us like crap!! We were completely taken aback by the rude behavior of these women. I have no idea how they stay in business, the lack of customer service is rediculous!!!!!!! I will never go back there! What really makes me sick is that these *****y women make money off of us if we end up buying something there!!!!!

Okay, I am so glad that someone finally has said something. I wasn't going to spout my mouth off, but now that you have started it....let me tell you a horrible story.
I started looking for my bridesmaids dresses and flowergirl dress in May. I found the ones I wanted and we ordered them. Now, my sister who is one of my bridesmaids and she and my flowergirl (my niece) live in Philadelphia. (I live in the Mansfield, OH area) So my sister and flowergirl ordered their dresses in Philadelphia. First what happened was my sister and I both called and called and called to find out when the dresses was coming in. I had already recieved a call from the Davids Bridal where I live and had already got the dresses for the girls in Ohio. So finally on July 7th, I called again and they told me the dress finally had come in. I asked where is the flowergirl dress, "Oh, that won't be in until August 24th." Ummm, my wedding is August 26th and you have that on paper. Why was I not told this until now? They told me that as long as the dress is in before the wedding it is not their responsibilty. So they told me that it takes at least 12 weeks for a flowergirl dress to come in. That's funny. No one told me that when I ordered it. Now I ordered all the dresses on the same day. May 23rd. And I had received the dresses in the Ohio store on June 15th. So I was a little ticked. So my sister had to pick out another flowergirl dress off the rack. One that I don't like, but what the heck it will have to do. Because they wouldn't give us a refund to go somewhere else. Yea, I was ticked! So now on to another problem. My sister made an appointment to have her dress fitted. She went in on July 8th. The day after we were told the dress was in. She went in and it took them a half an hour to get to her. She was ticked. So finally they asked her what she was there for and she said that she was in for a fitting. They went to look for her dress and guess what. They couldn't find it anywhere. So she called me and of course I went off the hook! I flipped out! My sister had to calm me down enough so I could calm her down. Funny right...ohhh just wait I am not done. When I spoke to the manager, I will not give her name out, she pretty much told me it was my fault that I should have ordered all the dresses at the same store, even though my sister was in a different state and my sister should have to travel to another state to have her alterations done. Yea, I was shocked. I could have just crawled through the phone and killed her. Needless to say, I was trying to be nice, but when she told me that in a snotty little voice, I be***e unglued and really let her have it. I got her boss's phone number, her customer service rep's phone number. I meant business. Think I am done...not yet! So I had to do their job for them. I called my store in Mansfield Ohio and talked with the manager there. She told me that the dress that we ordered in Philadelphia was scanned in to store in Philadelphia on June 6th!!!!! So the dress had been there in that store for over a month and no one called to let me or my sister know that it was in! I was furious! However, they had the same dress the same color in the size that we needed in the store in Mansfield. I had them ship it overnight it to the store in Philadelphia. I then called Philadelphia again to let them know what I did. She again told me that it was my fault and I told her to get her boss on the phone. So her boss got on the phone and she was as sweet as pie to me. She told me that she was going to fix this situation and she was going to make sure that the dress ***e in on time and my sister was to not talk to anyone but her. I was happy finally. Someone was going to help me. So the next day my sister goes in to the store and to find out that when the Philadelphia store ordered the dress they ordered the dress in a size too small and when the Mansfield store looked at their computer screen to let me know if they had the dress she went by the size in the computer. I hadn't even asked my sister what size she ordered it in. I was about to crap my pants. So now the Philadelphia store had to order the correct dress and have it shipped priority to the store so my sister can have the dress altered and have it done fast. The best part...the store in Philadelphia said that my sister was going to have to pay for rush alteration charges. HA HA HA... that was a laugh....I called them again. We are on first name basis now. And I laughed in their ear. I told her that this would not have been rushed if they would have done their job in the first place. She then told me that she would take care of it. I then had to tell my sister to watch out for them that they are shady. So that is my story on David's Bridal. I do not suggest them to anyone. I have had so many problems with them it is not funny. I thought I was doing the right thing by going in early (3 months) in order to have plenty of time for dresses to come in. I pity the girls that get married in 2 months. How do they do it?

Katey you are too funny! I love reading your messages! :p
That sucks about David's Bridal...I went there and so far so good...however, anything is bound to happen. I haven't ordered my dress yet or anything...so who knows...I had a bad experience at a smaller shop...b/c of lack of employees....and the owner took it out on my and family...so it goes both ways.
I work retail and it's hard sometimes...but if you mess up big then you need to fix it no ifs ands or buts about it!;)

I would also like to comment on davids bridal. I went and got my wedding dress there and they were ok kind of snotty. They also lied to me to get me to buy the dress.i went back to get a maid of honor dress. Once they realized we were there for only one dress they treated us very poorly. I could not get my consultant to help us find certain styles or sizes. She kept going back to the computer to get "some work done." I had to go get her several times. She didnt even get us a bra or slip. When we went to the counter to order the dress she was very rude, she kept insisting that we had to pay for it then. Of course we knew this, but when i snapped back and asked when the dress would be in. she told me she didnt care if i was the bride dont get smart with her!!!! I dont believe they would have any business if it wasnt for the wide range of sizes and selection that is the only reason i went there.

I didnt like the service at Davids either. I made my apt, waited 30 minutes before they even let me look at the gowns and then the lady totally deserted me. I was looking at the dresses carrying them across the store, trying them on and putting them back myself. While some of the dresses were ok the service was awful.
The lady kept taking the sizes i picked and bringing me bigger sizes which then didnt fit me. She would not let me try on any size 10. She kept bringing me 12s. I bought my dress somewhere else in a size 8!
i would not recommend them

Just wanted to let you know I just got back from Davids Bridal. They did not even think about it, they let me change one of the bridesmaid dresses for something else.I got a dress for myself but have to order the size I need so I hope it gets here in time. The wedding is on Sept 23 and they promised the dress on Sept 16. That is close but I hope it will work out.

AMM2007, thanks for the laughter. I now look back on the whole thing and laugh. I mean I was sitting in the car yelling at the DB lady and the whole time I kept looking in the back seat to find the ***era for Bridezillas. I can't believe I let myself get that bad. Whew...

I guess I was fortunate...I did think poorly of David's Bridal because I was in a friends wedding as a bridesmaid, I bought my dress from David's Bridal and the experience was perfect. However, my friend dropped me from her bridal party because I wasn't willing to pay $50 for hand made bridal shower invites. This was fine except I has paid $130 for my dress. I ran around the bush with David's and they refused to refund my money or give me a store credit. I kept on them for a month and finally they gave me a store credit! I threatened to not shop there for my dress and not recommend them to anyone I knew. However, since I had a $130 store credit and they had worked with me I decided to give it another shot. I went in after I got engaged and tried on dresses, the consultant was awesome, she listened to exactly what I wanted and found a ton of dresses for me to try on. I set up another appointment for a month or so later and went back. That night I got put with a different consultant and she was great too! She didn't have any problems with my bridesmaids flipping through the catalog and saying we want her to try on this dress and this one. I put on one and it was perfect, everything I imagined it would be. The consultant pulled me aside and asked me how I felt and really cared about me finding the perfect dress, she even took me in to a back hall filled with mirrors so I could admire myself and my mom could take pictures. I ordered my dress from them without a doubt in the world, my thoughts of David's Bridal were totally changed. They told me my dress would be in this September and it actually ***e in on Friday and I picked it up today. Once again a perfect experience and they always make me feel welcome in the store. Everyone knows who I am when I walk in and I definitely would recommend my particular David's Bridal to my friends.
