So I have found the dress I want, great right? Wrong, here's the deal. I found it on ebay, I was going to buy it at the end of the summer because I am in the middle of moving and don't have an address for it to be shipped to yet. So I was waiting, when it got sold. What do I do now?
I was thinking that I could pay to have have it made. But how would I go about doing that. I don't know what to do, but I know that this is the dress I want to walk down the aisle in.

Thanks in advance

Hi. I understand your situation. I have been engaged since October 2005, and we were going to be married in October 2006, but, now it will be October 2007. Initially, I had found a dress....and it was online. I didn't want to do the whole bridal shop thing for a few reasons (horror stories of the ones near me being one of them) and I also didn't want to pay $1000's for a dress I will be wearing only a few hours.

My family was surprised that I was going to look online, but....well. I found a dress, several. But one.....REALLY had me. And it was from a place with a GREAT policy on returns. THEN our wedding date and PLANS changed. No longer was it going to be a formal reception after an outdoor wedding.....now, it would be an outdoor wedding, with an outdoor BBQ...so, the dress would be on for...an HOUR??

Well, I also would have a longer, rougher walk now in the dress....no longer on a manicured lawn, so, I wanted to "ditch the train" so to speak. Well, now I decided to RETHINK my dress. WAS it TOO formal?? The wedding would be earlier now....11 am, not 4pm, and it would be less people, he MAY not be in a tux now......so, I am relooking. Luckily, I have NOT bought the dress yet.

If you have the dress brand, number, and pic, it will help you. You can search the internet for the dress if you decide that it is THE dress for you. It is a beautiful dress....I hope you the best. You can find a store that carries it so you can try it on.....and you can also decide if you LIKE it on you, or I should say LOVE it on you (which you may) and, you may STILL decide to buy it off line instead of from a bridal place.

Some places to try online:
www.freeweddingclassifieds.com lists many wedding items
www.preownedweddingdresses.com lists dresses: new with tags/ new without tags/ used

You can also take the picture to a seamstress and ask them to make the dress for you. Some people have had great luck with this....it wound up being cheaper than buying the dress and having alterations done.

I wish you the best.......good luck.

That dress is by Demetrios. I remember drooling over it at one point in time. ;) Was the dress on e-bay a Chinese company knock-off? I wouldn't worry about it being sold because those companies post the same dresses over and over again to sell more. All you have you have to do is wait for them to put one out there again. Or, you could e-mail the seller and ask if they can put another one up for bid for you. Or, you could simply buy the real thing. I'm sure there is a bridal shop in your area that sells Demtrios. It's Young Sophisticates style # 2697. Good Luck!

No problem. The dress is under previous collections, then young sophisticates. I think it was from last year and the ones that they show first are from this year.

I found this one. It is extremely closely alike.

I know it isn't the one that you wanted, but maybe if you visited the website you might find something else.

Not sure if this helps, but I have a dress for sale. It's not exactly like the dress you wanted but I think you may like it. It has never been worn and still has the tags on it. Its a size 14. Its really gorgeous, but I have no use for it now and need to sell it. Let me know what you think! I also have some close up detail shots if you would like.
