OK guys Due to the fact that I made a cake earlier this week and everyone was drooling over it and saying I should make my own wedding cake because it would be cheaper and taste better Ive decided to do it. I'm looking for a 5 tier cascading wedding cake stand and Im not sure where to find one. I've found some on ebay as a last resort but I'm wondering if anyone on here knows of any stores online that has them (to compare prices and such)
Any tips would be appreciated as well... Ive never made a wedding cake before!!

Have you tried any craft stores like Michaels or Hobby Lobby? They have wedding cake sections with stands and everything. You might try checking that out because they might go on sale. Or at Michaels, they always have those 40% off coupons. Its worth a shot. :)

I'm also thinking about making my own cake. I know it will taste way better, my only concern is appearance. I think Michael's is the best place to start, or a cooking store (although that might be more expensive).
What do you think about making the cake early and freezing it? I don't want to be baking and decorating a cake the day before

I'm eating my wedding cake right now! Nothing wrong with freezing the leftovers, so I doubt it would make much difference if its the whole thing. The only thing I would worry about is if you have frosting flowers. I would do the rest of the decorating before hand, then wait to do the delicate flowers after it has thawed. I think that is was my cake person did. :D

Thanks guys! Makes me feel more confident for sure!
I dont see a problem with freezing the cake it should be fine. I mean i wouldnt do it for a month but a week or so, just make sure you wrap it in several layers and really tight! I would wait on the frosting though like someone else suggested :)
My concern is that Im going to make it the day before and Im having a 5 tier cascading cake how on earth should I cover it to keep it from drying out??

You might need to buy individual plastic cake covers for each tier, or get fancy with toothpicks and plastic wrap.
I think what I'm going to do is do a lot of test runs before. Make a cake, freeze it for a couple of weeks, and then see how it is. Of course, don't want to do too many test runs or the dress might not fit!

Thanks for the tips. I think thats what Im going to have to do as well. Thinking about it...if I try to bake and frost 5 cakes all in one day I think I might pull my hair out!! haha!
Let me know how the freezing tests go for you!
