ok i have been checking on wedding cake prices i went to this one place and for a 3 layer cake she was charging 159 dollars just for the cake and icing no decorations i was wondering has anyone else seen the outragous prices that people are charging for the wedding cake??

that is really steep. i had an offer to have a hand delivered cake from another state 4 teir cake for $200 any design i wanted

you can get a 3 tier cake plain iced from walmart for $120 then you can decorate anyway you like

i got lucky so far i found a lady who can make it for me and the grooms cake and it will cost me about $80 for both but i am checking with my cousins step mom cause she makes wedding cakes too going to see if that cheaper

Mine is costing $258 with delivery and set-up. I live in a big city so I think everything is a bit more expensive here. I love our baker and our cake though so I didn't mind spending a little extra money-a lot of pics will be taken of the cake so it should be pretty! I've seen 3 tier cakes cost over $500 (w/minimal decorating) $159 is only about $1.50/slice - there are bakerys that charge in the teens/slice! I don't think that $1.50 is too bad!

A friend of my cousins is making mine and she is charging me about 1.40 per slice which inclueds the fondunt, decorations, fountain, etc.

I designed and will be doing our wedding cake. I decorate different styles of cakes. The possibilities are endless, the only thing it will cost me is the supplies that i will need. A wedding cake is simple to do. The Wilton website, their yearbooks that you can purchase at Wal-Mart, all have directions on making cakes. If you can read, you can decorate a cake. Instead of icing flowers (because of the time limits) I opt for artificial ones on my cakes. That also helps to keep costs down.
