I am looking for some different guest book ideas. We are having an outdoor/garden wedding. Does anyone have any cute ideas that we could use? We don't want the traditional guest book.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I am going to get a frame (mat) that will go around a picture of us and everyone that comes to the wedding will sign the mat and then I will frame it and hang the picture so I can always see it instead of putting it a closet some where. Also I read some one put out a polaroid ***era and guest took pictures of them self and signed the picture and the bride put it in a photo album. Hope that helps.

That also is the idea that I am doing for my wedding! I saw it in the back of one of my wedding mags. and thought the idea was awesome! So if you are looking for something totally unique, that would be it!

I thought about setting out pretty slips of paper and colorful gel in pens with my traditional guestbook. GUests can write down advice, memories, or words of encouragement and put it into a card holder (you can order these from the invitation or favor company). Later, I'm going to make a scrapbook out of all the notes people left me. Also, my photographer showed me one of those posters. It had an 8x10 of the couple's engagement photo, and a 5x7 of two different poses on each side of it, and was matted and framed. It was really pretty. Maybe some really fine-tipped markers to make it more colorful?

I bought a wedding scrapbook (it has a wedding cake on the front) at a craft store called michaels. I am having one of my fiances friends take a picture of every guest that comes to our wedding and having the guest sign their name on a small piece of paper. Later I will put the picture with the paper in the scrapbook, so I will always have a face to put with a name. We all know that there are a few people that our mother or mother in law throw on the list that you cant remeber for the life of you who they are. Best of luck!

Doing the matted picture is a great idea i think! And to make it even more memorable you could have your photographer take a gorup picture of you with all your guests and that could be the picture that you put into the frame!

In one of my wedding mags i found the idea of placing a page out of your book on each table for guests to sign and put their advice and wishes for you and your fiance. At the reception you can then have a picture taken of each table so you have a picture of your guests to put on each individual page. Put these all together and you have a book of wonderful pictures and meaningful advice from your loved ones.

I'm also going to go with the signature frame. My fiance's mom got mine from Kirkland's. If you go online to Kirkland's...select art...select photo albums and frames...go to page 3...it's on the bottom right. It's only $20 bucks but it's such an elegant frame. It really looks expensive. I think it looks a lot better than it appears in the picture. We are having 300+ guests so, obviously, not everyone will be able to sign it. We will most likely have a guest book and then, our wedding party, parents, grandparents, etc. will sign our frame ans we will hang it in our home.

Maybe you can get several frames. On one of the frames have your bridal party, parents, siblings and their spouses, and grandparents sign it. Use another one for family members such as aunts, uncles, cousins, etc. Have the final one for your close friends that will be at the wedding. I am sure that you will have more than one picture of your wedding hanging up in your home and this will allow you to display all the of signatures of the people who ***e to the wedding.

I really like that idea. I am a photo buff and I can't believe that I didn't think about that. LoL I'm going to look in the next week or two for more of a collage one. Or just buy a couple big ones, and make my own collage! Thanks:)

I originally was thinking I was going to have everyone sign a matte to go around my wedding picture also -- that way you would see it all the time. But now I am leaning more towards using polaroid ***eras and taking a picture of everyone as they come in (solo, couples, or groups - it doesn't matter) then have them place it in the book and have those sign by the picture with any advice or wishes they would like to leave for us.

At my FH sisters wedding this past October they did a guest quilt. They had pieces of fabric out on the table and bought fabric pens. Everyone signed a square for the quilt and they they are having it put together. I thought that was a pretty cool idea.

Sulli,

That is absolutely a wonderful idea. I make quilts and would have never thought to have the guests sign a square for the quilt. I think this would be a very memorable quilt and one that would last forever. Not only does the couple get to use the quilt (if they wanted to) but they have all of the signatures of their guests in an orderly fashion.

This is such a great idea! I think I might do this as well! I thought about, instead of actually having the quilt pieces around to actually have them in a book and have them signed - that way pieces don't go missing.

I totally love both of these ideas. The picture frame and the quilt are wonderful ideas. My mom had a really good idea too. Take construction paper and cut it down to the size of a regular picture (or 3X5 index cards would work too i guess). Then buy one of those phot albums that has clear sheets. When your guests arrive have them sign their name(s) on one side and write some words of advice on the other side this way when you flip through the book you can see both sides. Then you can press some of the flowers from your wedding arragments and slip them in with the notes. :o

I have seen people in the bridal party taking a picture of the guests when they arrive (Polaroid Joy***). They immediately stick the two-sided **** on the picture and stick it in the scrap book (one with black pages). The guests can use coloured gel pens to sign or put advice or words of encouragement. I think this is a great idea, and a way to remember everyone who attended your wedding.

I just went to walmart to look at different ideas for the photo album idea. I found a photo album with a pic of a wedding cake on the front, and the pages werent the kind where you can see through, but next to each slot there were a few lines to write text(a description of the pic). So, I was thinking I could get that, have the people write their names on the lines, and than write a message on an index card or something to put in the picture slot!!!! and it only costs 9.00!!! thanks for the idea mrs.hoffman

We bought a guest book from this site for our wedding:
http://www.guestbookstore.com/our_story.html
You buy pages that have questions for your guests such as advice, how far the guest traveled, what's your favorite memory of the bride or groom or of the wedding day, how many kids they think you will have etc. You have 2 different page choices and lots of book cover choices. The book and pages come separately and after the wedding you just bound them together (very easy) and you have a really nice personalized book. Our guests really liked it and thought it was a neat idea. I really loved reading all the pages when we got back from our honeymoon. The only thing I would do differently is leave the pages and markers for the pages on the tables instead of in the lobby and encourage each person to fill one out instead of letting couples do one together.

We also liked the idea of having guests sign the matting around the picture. Our photographer has a sample of one and it's so cool!

That is a great idea, the only thing that would probably worry me or my FH is if someone says something that the other one doesn't know about. :) I think I would like to use your idea if you don't mind...

People are usually pretty tactful in this type of situation - and you could have an agreement to not question things :)

I think most guests will be wanting to congratulate the couple and send them wishes for a happy life together. Most people will not bring things up and put them in the guest book.

Good luck!

I made mine similar to the guestbookstore they turned out great. I did personalized enteries for what I wanted the guests to fill out (stories, advice, how long they have known us etc..) I'm excited to have it filled out

I was recently at a bridal show and saw what I plan to use. It was an engravable guestbook tray. I found the company online that I met at the show www.idoengravables.com. You get a engraving pen and your guests actually use the pen to engrave their names in the silver platter..very cool! Hope this helps!

I was just talkign about this to one of my bridesmaids. how ironic!
IM going to get either a pink, blue, or white blank scrap book. Im going to put photos in the few front pages and decorate them like prewedding days, and then in the middle the guest book pages that im going to design with lines and other things like that. the last pages im going to do pictures in our wedding. instant guest book and scrapbook!!!!!

I'm actually doing the same things as most other couples. We must do the same research b/c we all have the same ideas. LOL

I'm going to do the polaroid ***era and take each guest picture when they arrive at the church. THen I'm going to give them a card to add any advice, tips, or encouraging words. I would like to either get the "photo guest book" or get a scrapbook and decorate it ourselves.

After that @ the reception I'm going to have the engagment photo matted and framed for our guests to sign. To hang up in the house after we're married.

Just wanted to say I love this site and it's so helpful. I thought I was the only one trying to save some money on this wedding but I realized they are tons of people out there like myself. Thanks you all for the great advice.
