we downloaded all of our music (legally) and burned everthing to Cd and I coordinated everything, they were all in order and labled on the front of each cd. I did one with preceremony music, one with down the aile music, cake cutting, spec dances. I made it idiot proof, b/c our entertainment had a death in the family and cx on us a week before the wedding, So we had to imprivise. The place we got married and reception were all in one and already had equipment set up so i just got somebody to play the CDs. I also had to make dancing music for the rest of the evening. But it all worked out nicely. Just a thought and hey its cheap!!!! (our entertainment wanted $350.00 an hour but b/c we knew him we would have gotten him the whole evening for $350.00, so i feel your pain)

Go to any REAL Mexican restaurant and they could point you towards some good Mariachi bands. I'm having a Mariachi at my wedding also.

I'm getting married in Mexico; and I know the restaurant I am using is a REAL Mexican restaurant. I was curious as to how much Mariachi bands cost in general; since you are using one could you tell me how much they are charging you per hour?
I thought about doing our own thing, since it would be much cheaper, but on the other hand, I don't want to pick out music everyone will like; I'm not sure, we're just looking around right now trying to get things budgeted.
Oooh, don't know if it ***e out rude when I wrote "REAL Mexican" If it did, I didn't mean for it to. There are many restaurants in my area that call themselves Mexican but are not, Casa Ole for example. I'll let you know what the hourly rate is as soon as i find out.

Have you tried some of the colleges in your area. You may be able to locate students that may be willing to do it. If you decide to go this route, check with the dean of the arts department to recommend someone.
