Inexpensive Centerpieces

Just an idea that worked for me. I bought some tall candle holders (on clearance) from pottery barn to use for centerpieces. I then bought some candles from Ross. I wanted to find a filler to hold the candle in place once I put it in the candle holder. Everything that I found was to expensive. I was thinking about using beads or maybe stones but it added up to be to expensive so.....at the last minute I got a brilliant idea...................kitty litter. No, not the ugly grey grainy stuff. They make a kitty litter that looks almost like pearls. I dont remember the name of it but it looked beautiful! I got two big bags for like $3.50 each! A huge savings and I think that it looked better than anything else would have. Hope this is useful! Congrats & Good Luck!

Depending on the wedding's theme, you could have also used something eclectic like uncooked pasta in several colors, or long-grain white rice, or even birdseed. If there is a "recycling center" in your area (no, I don't just mean cans and glass :p ), this is a great place to find nifty yet offbeat things that are great for decoration and crafts, but are almost free. Some even have workshops that you can go to and learn how to make things with the recycled materials they have on hand. Colored sand (in your colors or to match the reception hall's decor) would be pretty too, especially if you layer it in different designs.
