some fondant is ok. as long as there is an icing under it. to give the fondant taste. i want it to be beautiful and YUMMY. is fondant really sweet? if not i am not opposed to it as long as it tastes good. my FH isnt a huge sweet eater. but he said he would humor me for the cutting. we both LOVE cheesecake. so this one is a must! i am not picky, he is a little more so. maybe yellow cakes with assorted fillings. he prefers vanilla to chocolate. maybe a fruit cream filling on one? strawberry, lemon, what ever. what suggestions do you have?

Our wedding cake has three flavors! Carrot, chocolate, and white! LOL! We're having cream cheese frosting underneath the fondant decorations. My FH and I just couldn't come to a decision on what flavor cake... so the lady who is making our cake said she could do each layer a different flavor. Hmm... solved that problem. ;)

I really love the 4th one the most but they are all beautiful.
Fondant is hard and I heard doesnt taste really good i am going with buttercream for my cake but if you are getting fondant get icing under it because most people just peel it off.
:D Now i am hungry for cake thanks. :D

any filler ideas or cake flavors
Our cake is filled with Lemon Merange (again spelling) and chocolate buttercream
it may not sound too appealing but it TASTE out of this world.

I love cheescake also so I would work from there LOL

I wanted strawberry & rasberry fillings but I have 6 people allergic to strawberries so I wasnt chancing it and went with safer flavors but it worked out great, but our anniversary cake has the berry filling I want.

I would go and have a taste test trial of their fillings and choose which ones you want, if you like more then 2 flavors doa different flavor per level.

Our cake looks like this for the layout:

With the two bottom layers stacked on top of eachother, and the top layer on pillars.

But it has a fountian underneath it like this one:

Except there is a lace pattern above the swags on each layer... and there are little rose buds where the sways connect to one another.

Plus we will be using real flowers between the top and second layer and real flowers on top.

Sorry... it's hard to explain... but I can't find anything really like it online. :confused:

This is what my cake is going to look like. I told my baker that I didn't care what it looked like as long as it tastes good. And it should with all of those truffles on it :)

Sorry if it is on here twice. I tried to put it on here again because I am not sure if I did it right the first time.

OMG that looks sooo good...i'm in pms chocolate mode and i'm seriously drooling looking at that cake! i have dreams about living in a cake like that! lol

I really love the color cakes. FH hates fondant so we have to scratch that idea, I love the way it looks but FH dosen't like the taste no matter what we do. But i am hoping our baker can make it smooth like fondant anyway. :)

I read somehwere that they have a new technique for buttercream where they make it and roll it onto the cake so that it is smooth. So you probably will be able to.

yea i agree, but fondant has no taste. you can still have a fondant cake with a thick buttercream layer underneath for taste. that way you have the best of both worlds. you just pick the fondant off before you eat the cake.

I like how elegant it looked. It looks like buttercream frosting as well. Its smooth but not to smooth.. ;) I am a very picky cake person.

Oh that would look awesome. The ribbons could match whatever color you decide to be a ribbon on your bridesmaid dresses. It can really be any color. It would look stunning in pink and brown as well!!
