We are planning an outdoor wedding in our hometown. The town is small and there are not many options to hold a wedding, so I am having trouble coming up with ideas!

The wedding will be in a large, public garden. The problem is, what happens if it rains? There is no shelter at the garden, and we are not allowed to put up a tent. I thought about booking a church for the same time, and canceling it that day if I don't need it. I wouldn't mind losing my deposit on the church if that meant I had a back up plan in case it rained. Would it be rude to take up that time slot at the church if it’s a possibility I might cancel? There is not a house available to use as a backup, and I couldn't hold it at the reception site either. Any other ideas?

Thanks everyone!

Actually, many brides planning an outdoor wedding secure an indoor location, just in case. Yes, you may get stuck with paying for it (either the deposit only, or full price sometimes), but it is worth it to have a backup plan. You could put on your invites "In case of rain, the wedding will be held at... " so everyone knows ahead of time.

Also, could you use the church for just the reception ? That way if the weather is nice, you can have your Wedding outdoors and still use the church's reception room, if its large enough and would be something you'd enjoy... then you aren't out any money. Unless you have already booked the other reception site and cannot get that money back...

Hope this helps, good luck!!!

Hi,
Look into renting tents, but make sure you shop around. They come with walls on the side and look very lovely.
