Phil and I met in 1996 through a mutual friend. I didn't think anything of him, he was actually kind of cute and geeky in his own way. We be***e fast friends and began hanging out quite a bit. Well, Phil moved from San Diego to Austin, TX in August 1997 and we remained good friends, just talking on the phone every so often and keeping in touch. We saw each other over Christmas that year and went out for a snack. Well, he went back to Austin, and we kept in touch through phone and email. We were constantly trying to find each other dates/girl/boyfriends. At one point, I even tried to set him up with my sister! She said that he talked too much..and he said that she was too bossy.
I was still in school at UCSD while he was working...when one day he called and told me that he had just finished his website. Now, I hadn't seen him in over year...and when I went to his website, my jaw dropped to the ground. He was GORGEOUS!! He had gotten contacts, gotten a nice hair cut and dropped a few pounds. I did proceed to call him and let him know that I thought that he was really cute. He then told me that he liked me as well and would like to come out to San Diego to visit me. We decided to give this long distance relationship a shot...we figured..what else do we have to lose? So, he flew out on February 26, 1999, a day after his 24th birthday and we spent 3 inseparable days together. We've been happily together for a little over 3 years now.
