Does anyone know of any resorts that offer a wedding/moon package OTHER than Sandels or Beaches. What we have looked at are 'couples only' and we would like our son to be at our wedding. Also, because this is a destination wedding only our families and a couple close friends are invited, should we pick up the tab for their rooms (or airfare)?

Hmmm I'm not sure about the resorts - if I were you I would contact a travel agent and ask them. As far as paying, I think it would be too much for you to pay for both room and airfare (at least, I wouldn't want to!), but maybe you could book their room and they could book airfare? I went to New Orleans for my cousin's wedding and we booked our own rooms and airfare which, for me, seemed normal since it was the first time I had been to a destination wedding. Are you going to get married on the beach or in the hotel?

If you're looking for a place to stay at your destination wedding...try looking on Craigslist.com. Its a website that has postings for various locations in the US and overseas. Try looking for places to rent out in your location - most of the time it's so cheap because it's just folks renting out their property...fully furnished and you avoid the high mark ups that hotels and resorts charge.

Originally the plan was to be married on the beach. I was thinking about just booking their rooms and letting them take care of the airfare. I am so torn about having a destination wedding, on one hand, since we are paying, I want to do what I want and have it where I want too. On the other, I think I would feel bad if my family had to pay to travel that far. Vegas is starting to sound really good!!! :-)

my fiance and I recently researched and visited the paridisus, punta cana (a sol melia resort) for a site inspection for our destination wedding. View the solmelia.com website- they have several wedding package. If you chose an all-inclusive resort the pretty much give you everything- including a great rate for your guests. As far as paying for your guests- its not neccessary- most people will enjoy to participate IF you give them notice. A year is ideal. If you get your guests a lot of information way a head of time they can work out their budget.

hi there! Have you looked into Belize? They are not couples only packages and some places allow you to create your own wedding at the resorts and beaches. The prices are much lower than the sandles type places and is so beautiful there. It is direct from TX, GA, and NC 2 hour flight.
If you want more info, I can ask my co-worker where exactly in Belize she was married.

There are "Beaches" resorts (www.beaches.com), which are basically the same thing, but more targeted towards a family atmosphere. If you go on their website, they have a wedding section. I think they have four locations: Boscobel, Negril, Turks & Caicos, and Sandy Bay.

Hi I'm a destination bride too that married a Jamaican and then decided to live in Jamaica. Jamaican is a beautiful place for a wedding. I do know some fantastic locations where you can have your wedding and that do allow children. In regards to paying for family members the usual process is that they pay for their flight and accomodation and you pay for the wedding day events. If we can find you a resonable price for accomodation then consider paying for the family. Drop me a line and we can chat some more
