I am using Butterfly Kisses by Bob Carlisle.....when my FH and I started dating I had heard this song and knew from the first time I heard it that if I ever got married I would dance to this song.

I'm not sure yet either. It's really tough to choose! I didn't grow up with my dad..just my mom so I'm not sure how "cheesy" of a song I want. I want something that is slow..but not too emotional I guess. I will have to sit down with my band and see if they have any opinions. Another thing to worry about! lol.
Don't you HATE that Angela.. that is me I will hear it on the radio and be like OH i love that song i want it! Then not have a clue of the name of it or how it goes!

I told my dad to choose this song, and he picked "The way you look tonight" by Rod Stewart. A re-make of an older version. It repeatedly goes, "you look lovely tonight...." It's blissfully not too long- I'm nervous about the 2 solo dances....

This is what I found. But it seems like it is suited for if a father is deceased.
Artist: Luther Vandross
Album: Dance With My Father
Title: Dance With My Father
You might be able to listen to it on itunes. Here are the lyrics
Back when I was a child
Before life removed all the innocence
My father would lift me high
And dance with my mother and me and then
Spin me around till I fell asleep
Then up the stairs he would carry me
And I knew for sure
I was loved
If I could get another chance
Another walk, another dance with him
I’d play a song that would never, ever end
How I’d love, love, love to dance with my father again
Ooh, ooh
When I and my mother would disagree
To get my way I would run from her to him
He’d make me laugh just to comfort me, yeah, yeah
Then finally make me do just what my mama said
Later that night when I was asleep
He left a dollar under my sheet
Never dreamed that he
Would be gone from me
If I could steal one final glance
One final step, one final dance with him
I’d play a song that would never, ever end
‘Cause I’d love, love, love to dance with my father
again
Sometimes I’d listen outside her door
And I’d hear her, mama cryin’ for him
I pray for her even more than me
I pray for her even more than me
I know I’m prayin’ for much too much
But could You send back the only man she loved
I know You don’t do it usually
But Lord, she’s dyin’ to dance with my father again
Every night I fall asleep
And this is all I ever dream

My dad and I are doing The Way You Loved Me by Celine Dion. He actually really loves Celine Dion because my mom got him into her. My mom thought it would be perfect too, it's going to be a surprise for him though...my mom thinks he's going to cry...I think that dance is going to be harder for me to get through without crying then my First dance!

That's why I assigned my dad this one- less decisions for me! I just said, "not too lovey, and not too long!" ;)

I haven't picked out a song yet but I have a few in mind:
1. WHat a wonderful world by louis armstrong
2. butterfly kisses
3. isn't she lovely by stevie wonder
4. you are the sunshine of my life by stevei wonder
and my sister just introduced me to a song I havent heard before...it's called "There goes my life"...I think its by Kenney Chesney....It's a great song for those who are the oldest child and their parents had them young...(WHich was my case.) I wish I could just tweek it a bit and have the last verse go "she's getting married" instead of "she's moving to the west".....but it's such a great song!
