My fiance and I are paying for this wedding on our own, on a resonable budget. We want our wedding to be somewhere personal (like a home). I live in Miami and there are beautiful mansions and beachside cottages but for one day the going rate is $10,000. I think that's rediculous! All that's included in that price is the house for one day...nothing else. I have managed to cut down on some of the decorations but still can't afford a $10,000 house. Are there any suggestions on what I can do?

I WOULD KEEP ON LOOKING,maybe going to a baquet facility or even a fire hall.

Or the BEACH...$10,000 is what we spent on our entire WEDDING...that includes attire, flowers, the banquet hall, food, drinks, gifts to each other, invitations...and NO it wasn't some country shindig by the river, it was full sit-down supper for 200 guests... :o

Look into the Historical Society where you live. A friend of mine was maried in a historical mansion in Fort Worth, TX and while I don't know what it cost, knowing her, it wasn't anywhere CLOSE to $10 grand, They rent it out for weddings and reunions and maybe you can cut a deal there...

Depending on the size of your wedding, maybe you could look into the rental of a house boat,or something similar.

How did you do your whole wedding for 10,000? That would be perfect for me, we have to pay for the wedding ourselves but I still want it to be nice. Where did you have your wedding and reception, what did you do to save costs? Any advice would be very helpful..
Thanks,
Amanda :)

Hi,
I have a pretty low budget myself. We hired a wedding planner to look for the private estate location. And she found a beautiful estate for us for only $3,000/day. The private estates that advertise their locations are usually the expensive ones. There are some private estate owner who doesn't advertise their location, but they work with the wedding planner instead.
If you really want to have your wedding at a private estate I'd suggest you to find a wedding planner.

good luck.

This may be a tad off the topic, but HOLY COW!! Are you ladies heiresses, or what? My husband and I paid for it all ourselves. We spent about $4500 total, and we thought THAT was steep! :D

Wow... I thought we were spending a lot on the reception... so does that include food and drinks? We are paying about $600 for a nice double room at the local university and about $4000 or less for the catering, beverages, decorations and cake. Wow... and I thought I was over budget. Wow...

I have just started my hunting for a nice reception site for my wedding. I am in the internet research stage at the moment and have found a place that I absolutely love. A big thing I think in the cost is - what they can provide and also whether or not you will have exclusive use to the facility that day.

Anyway, the place I found is a private estate and $7,000 for the day but it includes all of the chairs/tables for both the reception portion and a parking attendant, exclusive use, changing rooms, and an event manager. My fiance thinks this is expensive, so I have been looking around for other options.

I have found the best way to find nice places that are on a similar theme - such as estates or historic homes that aren't as pricey to go to the "approved vendors" sights like the caterers from the first place that is too pricey and check out what other venues they have worked with. There is often a link somewhere on their sight that has to do with venues.

HI Ndia, I'm from Miami also and I'm looking for a mansion or private estate to have my wedding this year, could you tell me where I can find info on the property you are mentioning? I like Viscaya could be something similar to that.
Thanks a lot,

Nubride
